Among the contenders for the Djarvis Chase race at the iconic Auteuil Racecourse in Paris was Lord Brett, a powerful gelding horse with a reputation for speed. Jockey Kevin Nabet — known for his cool-headedness and skill — was in the saddle determined to bring the victory home. You can watch the crazy incident in the video player above. As the race hit its final turn, Lord Brett was neck and neck with the leaders. The finish line was within sight and the tension was palpable but then in a shocking twist, disaster struck. Lord Brett jumped the final hurdle, but his power caused Nabet, who had been riding with great precision, to suddenly lose his grip. A jolt from the horse caused Nabet to slip off the saddle and, in an instant, he was dangling, his body swaying between two horses as he held on to both to try and regain his balance. His feet scrambled to stay in place but there was nothing he could do as his boots scraped against the grass — he briefly hung on for his life before letting go. In a video posted by At The Races, Lord Brett continued on, leaving Kevin behind to make sense of what had just happened. One fan saw the funny side on X and said: 'Hang it in the Louvre!' Another fan commented: 'Imagine backing the horse he was holding onto-you'd be fuming.' A third fan said: 'The jockey looked like me leaving the pub on a Saturday night.' Four-year-old gelding Levoilatiep won the race.

Viewers stunned as jockey grabs hold of two horses to save himself in middle of race
Viewers stunned as jockey grabs hold of two horses to save himself in middle of race The incident happened during a race in France on Saturday morning Kevin Nabet was left holding on as he 'skated' along the track for about 20 yards (Image: AtTheRaces ) Racegoers were left stunned on Saturday as French jockey Kevin Nabet was left clinging to a rival and skating down the track during an incredible incident at Auteuil. The rider was unseated from his mount Lord Brett during the first race on Saturday morning's card at the French course, and was subsequently tossed into the air when the 6/5 favourite failed to jump properly. As he came back down, the quick-thinking jockey reacted by reaching out to try and find something to hold on to. He ended up grabbing on to the rein of opponent L'Amazone, which was ridden by Clement Lefebvre, who was closely following behind at the time of the incident. He then slopped and turned into safety after hitting the turf as the other riders continued the race. Commentator Darren Owen was one of those left amazed at the moment, said at the time: 'Look at Lord Brett's jockey there, hanging on for dear life.' Jockey goes 'horse skating' as French rider clings onto two foals at once after falling off favourite during jump
A jockey was seen holding on for dear life during the final moments of a race at Auteuil in France on Saturday. The crowd were cheering on their favourites for success in the race, with the horses still grouped together as those watching on waiting in anticipation to see who would emerge as the front-runner. Their attention, though, was soon turned to the back of the pack when Kevin Nabet fell off his foal and clung on to his own horse - and another. Nabet found himself with a chance of victory as the race entered the final turn, with 6/5 favourite Lord Brett - known for its straight line speed - eyeing the win. As the four-year-old horse jumped the final hurdle, however, it appeared to lose its balance, causing Nabet to fall off and take measures into his own hands. He landed back on top of his horse, but was unable to get his right leg across and ended up clinging onto a rival horse to avoid a heavy fall - resulting in both runners falling to the back of the grid. Watch the jockey in the blue and yellow colours! 🤯 — At The Races (@AtTheRaces) May 17, 2025 As he was thrown to the floor, Nabet held onto L'Amazone with his left hand and Lord Brett with his left, and was briefly carried along the course by both horses. Approaching the bend, he was dragged across the ground as he dangled from both horses, with some viewers suggesting he was 'horse skating'. L'Amazone went on to finish fourth out of the five finishers, with Nabet falling to the ground but avoiding serious injury. Commentator Darren Owen said on Sky Sports Racing: 'Look at Lord Brett's jockey there, hanging on for dear life to L'Amazone and her jockey. Spectacular stuff.' 'Horse skating,' one fan replied to a post on social media asking what fans should 'call the new sport' as a video of Nabet's actions were shared. Another, meanwhile, posted: 'Not happy that was my horse he's hanging onto. Cost him the race.' A third posted: 'Jockeys when I bet British currency on them to do their job.'
