Unidentified body found in rural area near Kewanee, police say
An unidentified body has been found in a rural area west of Kewanee, according to a news release from Kewanee Police. On Friday, May 30, the Kewanee Police Department, Henry County Sheriff's Office, and IllinoisState Police conducted a coordinated search of several rural areas west of Kewanee. During the operation, a concerned resident who lives in the area spoke with law enforcement and began to check nearby properties to which they had access. That person found a body in 'an area of interest' and immediately notified authorities. Officers responded to the scene, verified the discovery, and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit processed the location, the release says. Because of the condition of the body, a positive identification cannot be confirmed at this time, the release shows. An autopsy has been scheduled for early next week in Peoria. 'Law enforcement would like to thank the concerned citizen for their initiative and willingness toassist in the search,' the release says. Further information will be released 'as it becomes available and appropriate to share.' Autopsy scheduled after discovery of body in Kewanee area
KEWANEE, Ill. (WMBD) — The Kewanee Police Department said a body was located in the rural area west of Kewanee on Friday. The body was discovered by a concerned citizen who checked their properties while the Kewanee Police Department, Henry County Sheriff's Office, and the Illinois State Police were conducting a coordinated search in the area, a Kewanee police Facebook post said. The body was in a condition where a positive identification could not be confirmed. An autopsy is scheduled for early next week in Peoria County, according to the post. The Kewanee police have been searching for Catrelle Reed, who has been missing since last week. Police seek public's help to find missing Kewanee man
Kewanee Police continue to investigate the disappearance of Catrelle Reed, who was last known to have had contact about 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, according to a Facebook post. 'We want to thank the community for their concern, support, and continued willingness to assist. We understand the public's desire for information and are committed to providing updates as often as possible,' says the post, which adds this information can be shared at this time: Currently no vehicle description is available. There is no verified location from which Reed is known to be missing. Search efforts have taken place in areas of interest, including where a vehicle was believed to have been driven and later parked near his residence. Police have requested and reviewed camera footage from locations near these areas. Police are utilizing every investigative resource available—this includes Flock license plate reader cameras, cell phone forensics, neighborhood canvasses, CSI services, drone operations, interviews, and coordination with outside agencies when necessary. 'While we are working diligently to gather and verify information, some details may be withheld to protect the integrity of the investigation and avoid sharing unconfirmed or potentially misleading information,' according to the post. A possible clothing description includes brown boots, blue jeans, and a high-visibility vest. He has a tattoo of a rose on one hand and a tattoo of wings on his neck, along with several tattoos on his upper body. Two arrested in Kewanee on multiple drug charges
Two men from Kewanee have been arrested after officers found guns and several kinds of drugs after serving a search warrant on a home, according to a news release from the Kewanee Police Department. Kewanee Police officers, the Black Hawk Area Task Force, the Henry and Stark County SWAT Team and the Henry County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant on a home in the 800 block of Birch Place in Kewanee on March 27. Officers found cannabis, methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), cocaine, packaging materials, digital scales and two firearms during a search of the home. Jordan Hart, 32 of Kewanee, and Keywon Nichols, 22 of Kewanee, were taken into custody and transported to the Henry County Jail. Hart faces preliminary charges of: • Possession of 500 – 2,000 grams of Cannabis (Class 3 Felony) • Possession of 500 – 2,000 grams of Cannabis with Intent to Deliver (Class 2 Felony) • Possession of a Controlled Substance less than 15 grams (Class 4 Felony) • Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver less than 15 grams (Class 3 Felony) • Possession of a Controlled Substance 15 – 100 grams (Class 1 Felony) • Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver 15 – 100 grams (Class X Felony) • Possession of a Firearm by a Felon Nichols faces preliminary charges of: • Possession of 500 – 2,000 grams of Cannabis (Class 3 Felony) • Possession of 500 – 2,000 grams of Cannabis with Intent to Deliver (Class 2 Felony) A Class 2 felony carries a potential sentence of three to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections per charge.
