Auburn transfer Keyshawn Hall makes important decision regarding NBA draft
Auburn transfer Keyshawn Hall makes important decision regarding NBA draft Hall signed with Auburn as a transfer while testing the NBA draft waters. What did he decide? Auburn basketball recently landed forward Keyshawn Hall from the transfer portal with the thought of him potentially never playing a second in orange and blue. However, head coach Bruce Pearl received great news Tuesday as Hall has decided to back off the NBA draft process and will play for Auburn for the 2025-26 season, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports. Now that Hall has made his choice, attention turns to guard Tahaad Pettiford, who is also testing the NBA waters, to make his final decision. Hall joins Auburn's roster following a strong season at UCF that saw him score a Big 12-leading 18.8 points and haul in 7.1 rebounds, which ranked No. 9 in the conference. He reached double figures in points 29 times last year, and scored 20 or more points in 16 games. He scored a season-high 40 points in UCF's win over Arizona State and scored 34 points in a game against Kansas. Hall will play a major role in Auburn's frontcourt rebuild. A unit depleted by the departure of Johni Broome, Dylan Cardwell, and Chaney Johnson will be filled by Hall, Mississippi State transfer Keshawn Murphy, and JUCO center Emeka Opurum. Pearl says that he hopes to add one more center to round out what should be a stellar rotation at forward and center. Auburn adds transfer forward Keyshawn Hall from UCF
Auburn adds transfer forward Keyshawn Hall from UCF Hall posted impressive numbers during the 2024-25 campaign in Orlando. UCF transfer Keyshawn Hall tells me that he has committed to Auburn. Hall on Auburn: "I want to be coached by the best coach in the country and that's Bruce Pearl." — Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) April 3, 2025 Auburn basketball is currently in the middle of a Final Four run. However, their efforts in building a successful roster for the 2025-26 season have already begun. On Wednesday, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported that UCF forward Keyshawn Hall announced his intention to transfer to Auburn for next season. The 6-8 rising senior from Cleveland, Ohio told Rothstein that he is looking forward to learning under Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl. "I want to be coached by the best coach in the country and that's Bruce Pearl," Hall said in an interview with Rothstein following his commitment to Auburn. Auburn is looking to replace two key players, Johni Broome and Chaney Johnson, at the four next season, and Hall is a worthy candidate to slide into that role. He averaged 18.8 points and 7.1 rebounds for UCF this season while shooting 43% from the field. He notched four double-doubles for the Knights this season and scored 20-or-more points in 16 games. He reached the 30-point mark three times, including a season-best 40 points in the Knights' 95-89 win over Arizona State on Jan. 14 in Tempe, Arizona. In the game, he shot 72.2% from the field (13-of-18), 4-of-6 from three-point territory, and went 10-for-10 from the free throw stripe. In his final game of the season, he logged 25 points and 11 rebounds in an overtime loss to Kansas in the Big 12 Tournament. Auburn will be the fourth stop in Hall's college journey. He signed with UNLV as an unranked forward out of high school as part of the 2021 recruiting cycle, where he played in 18 games and averaged 5.4 points per game. From there, he transferred to George Mason, where he found more play time. He started in 28 of 29 games he appeared in during the 2023-24 season, and averaged 16.6 points and 8.1 boards while shooting 47%. Over his three-year career, Hall averages 15.0 points and 6.2 rebounds in 80 games played. He will look to crack the starting rotation that could include returning stars Tahaad Pettiford and Chad Baker-Mazara, as well as talented freshmen Sebastian Williams-Adams, Kaden Magwood, and Simon Walker.
