Qatar participates in GCC meeting on implementing environmental directives across member states
DOHA: The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC), took part in the working group meeting on preparing a report on the implementation of environmental directions in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, convened in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Director of the Wildlife Development Department, Khaled Jumaa Al Mahmadi, represented the MECC in the meeting.
As part of enhancing Gulf regional cooperation, the meeting addressed the current environmental requirements, future implementation plans, and incorporating the comments of the State of Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman into the report.
As such, the MECC underlined the State of Qatar's unwavering commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the Qatar National Vision 2030, through executing practical policies and initiatives that contribute to protecting the environment, conserving natural resources, and bolstering balanced development for the benefit of current and future generations.
This participation underscores the State of Qatar's commitment to backing the joint efforts of the GCC states in protecting the environment and fostering sustainability, in alignment with the GCC countries' national development strategies and visions.
It also contributes to advancing integrated environmental initiatives capable of navigating current and future challenges.
