Morning crash in Matunggong injures five

By: Patimang Abdul Ghani Text Size: Firefighters at the scene. - Pic by JBPM KUDAT: Five people were injured when the Perodua Myvi they were travelling in collided with a 10-tonne lorry at Kampung Molong Kolong, Matunggong, near here on Sunday morning. The crash, which occurred at around 8.20am, left the Myvi driver, identified as 32-year-old Khalid Tahar, trapped in his seat before being rescued by firefighters. Kudat Fire and Rescue chief Darickson Galanang said eight personnel were dispatched to the scene, about 50km away, after receiving the emergency call at 8.28am. One male victim was extricated by the fire team, while four others were rescued earlier by Health Ministry medical officers before the fire truck arrived. One of the injured passengers was identified as 42-year-old Mahya Andas, while the identities of the other three remain unknown.
