The crash, which occurred at around 8.20am, left the Myvi driver, identified as 32-year-old Khalid Tahar, trapped in his seat before being rescued by firefighters. Kudat Fire and Rescue chief Darickson Galanang said eight personnel were dispatched to the scene, about 50km away, after receiving the emergency call at 8.28am. One male victim was extricated by the fire team, while four others were rescued earlier by Health Ministry medical officers before the fire truck arrived. One of the injured passengers was identified as 42-year-old Mahya Andas, while the identities of the other three remain unknown. (JBPM pic) GEORGE TOWN : Nineteen goats were killed in a fire that destroyed a livestock shed near a factory in Bayan Lepas this afternoon. The goats were in a pen at Lengkok Kampung Jawa which was 90% destroyed in the 1pm incident, a Penang fire and rescue department spokesman said. Firefighters from the Bayan Baru station arrived at the scene within six minutes and brought the fire under control in about 10 minutes before fully putting it out by 2pm. Nineteen goats trapped inside the shed were killed, but one managed to escape. No one was injured. The fire also damaged four vehicles parked nearby. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

SEREMBAN: A technician was left counting his losses after two of his cars parked outside his home in Taman Bukit Seri Senawang were struck by an out-of-control vehicle early this morning. The 5.40am incident involved a Toyota Vios, a Perodua Myvi and a Proton Persona. District deputy police chief Superintendent Muhd Amrul Yazid Anuar said the Seremban traffic complaint counter received information about the crash at 8.48am. "Preliminary investigations found that the Proton Persona, driven by a 22-year-old man, was coming from the direction of a factory. "The man was on his way home in the same neighbourhood when he is believed to have lost control of the vehicle while avoiding an oncoming car," he said when contacted. Amrul said the out-of-control vehicle rammed into the two parked cars belonging to the resident. "All individuals involved have lodged police reports regarding the incident. The case is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (LN 166/59)," he added.

The first incident occurred at Kampung Lutong 2, Kota Marudu, at 4.16pm, where a Proton Saga LMST was completely engulfed in flames before a seven-member team from the local station extinguished it using a hose reel. The second case was reported at 6.32pm in Tuaran twonship, where a six-member team quickly contained a fire that damaged 30 per cent of another Proton Saga LMST, mainly at the engine compartment. No injuries were reported in either case, and both operations were declared fully under control within minutes of arrival.
