Thousands turn out for Wolverhampton Vaisakhi celebrations

Thousands of people attended Vaisakhi celebrations in Wolverhampton on festival took place between 12:00-17:00 BST at West Park, with entertainment including a fun fair, stalls and prominent Asian musicians and singers performing live on there was a parade from the Guru Nanak Satsang Gurdwara on Cannock Road to West Park, starting at 08:30 were speeches by religious leaders, a variety of local organisations showcased their services, and free food was also served throughout the day at the free cultural festival. Vaisakhi is the Sikh New Year festival and this year marks the 326th anniversary of the creation of the Khalsa Order and making of Saint-Soldier by Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1699. Full road closures for Wolverhampton's Vaisakhi festival

Thousands of visitors are expected to attend a Wolverhampton park at the weekend for the annual Vaisakhi celebrations. The free cultural festival will take place between 12:00 BST and 17:00 BST at West Park on by religious leaders, family entertainment, including a fun fair and live music performances, as well as free food will all be on offer throughout the event. A parade from the Guru Nanak Satsang Gurdwara starting on Cannock Road will take place before the event at 08:30 BST. Vaisakhi is the Sikh New Year festival, and this year marks the 326th anniversary of the creation of the Khalsa Order and making of Saint-Solider by Guru Gobind Singh Ji in attending the festival by car are being reminded to park responsibly in the area, or to use nearby car parks on Fold Street and Clifton Street, as there will be limited parking surrounding West Park. To accommodate the festival, road closures will also be in place from 08:00 BST to 18:00 BST on the following roads:Lansdowne Road Park Avenue Park Road East - closed between junctions with Park Road West/Southgate and Devon Road Park Road West - closed between junctions with Park Road East/Southgate and Summerfield Road of Wolverhampton Council said further details have been sent to residents who will be affected.
