Surat businessman gets notice after Operation Sindoor-themed installation causes traffic snarls
The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) issued a notice to a textile businessman Wednesday to take down a model of a fighter jet and two soldiers installed at Surat's Pal-Hazira roundabout after it allegedly led to traffic jams in the area. In its notice, the civic body claims that the installation, 'Operation Sindoor', by Paresh Khandelwal's social organisation Yashvi Foundation was done without approval. The installation, measuring 15X15 feet and is about 20 feet high, was aimed at commemorating 'Operation Sindoor' – India's strikes in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives. Unveiled Saturday, the installation has been drawing public attention, with several people clicking videos and selfies at the spot and, according to the civic body, causing traffic jams in the area. 'We have issued a notice to Yashvi Foundation to remove the structure after there were complaints of traffic snarls. Khandelwal had applied for permission, but the model was installed before this was granted,' SMC Rander Zone head Mahesh Chavda said. When contacted, Khandelwal also confirmed that his application is currently pending. 'The installation is temporary and can be moved,' he said.

When Rajeev Khandelwal Learnt How To Ride A Bicycle With Jawans
Last Updated: Cycling has always been more than fitness to Rajeev Khandelwal as he feels an unmatched peace when the breeze hits his face. World Bicycle Day is celebrated on June 3 to recognise the versatility and longevity of bicycles, which have been in use for more than two centuries. On the occasion this year, actor Rajeev Khandelwal reflected on his childhood days learning to ride bicycles alongside jawans and emphasised the need for bicycle-friendly roads in Mumbai. During an interview with The Times of India, Rajeev Khandelwal recalled his childhood days when he used to live in army cantonments. Remembering the times, Khandelwal said he used to go to school riding bicycles with the jawans who used to work with his father, and sometimes he cycled too. 'That's how I learned—with the jawans. Those are my earliest memories of riding," the actor noted. After all these years, cycling remains a constant part of his daily routine. 'In Mumbai I cycle to the gym, and that's the most I can manage," Khandelwal stated, expressing the problems he faces while cycling on the streets of Mumbai, as there are only a few cycle-friendly lanes in the city. He further emphasized the need to construct more cycle-friendly lanes so that people can ride cycles without any danger and participate in the environmental well-being. 'In a city like Mumbai, it can really help with beating the traffic and getting around short distances easily," Khandelwal stated. He further noted that cycling has always been more than fitness to him and expressed that he feels an unmatched peace when the breeze hits his face and a sudden gush of calmness sets in him, making him feel totally in control of the moment. For the actor, cycling is like meditating. The actor further added that, in his opinion, cycling is the best way to explore new places. He revealed that when he travels abroad, he also cycles to his destination. Remembering a trip to Switzerland with his wife, Manjiri, Khandelwal revealed they spent an entire day on bicycles. They carried their cycles onto trains, got off in an unknown town, and began exploring the new place on two wheels. 'The experience has stayed with me. Cycling is the best way to explore a new place," Khandelwal stated. First Published:
