Folk singer held with 7 others in attempt to murder case
Rajkot: Gir Somnath local crime branch (LCB) on Sunday arrested folk singer Devayat Khavad and seven of his associates in connection with the attempt to murder, assault and loot involving a 24-year-old man in Talala taluka of the district. A ccording to police, on Aug 12, Dhruvrajsinh Chauhan of Sanathal, Ahmedabad, was waylaid near Chitrod village by Khavad and his aides, along with 12–15 others. The attackers rammed his car, assaulted him while brandishing a revolver, and looted Rs 42,000 cash and gold ornaments. A case was registered at Talala police station. Gir Somnath superintendent of police Manoharsinh Jadeja said multiple teams were formed, and using CDR and other surveillance methods, police traced Khavad's movement. On Sunday, Khavad was detained from his farmhouse in Dudhai, Surendranagar, while three others were picked up from Junagadh's Vanthli. Four more were later nabbed, taking the total arrests to seven. Efforts are on to trace others involved. Police said the attack stemmed from a dispute between Khavad and Chauhan after a delay in a folk event in Chauhan's village, which later escalated on social media through accusations and counter-posts.

Folk singer, 15 aides booked for attempted murder
Rajkot: Folk singer Devayat Khavad and 12 to 15 unidentified accomplices have been booked at Talala police station in Gir Somnath district for attempted murder, assault and robbery , after a case was filed late on Tuesday night by one Dhruvrajsinh Chauhan, a resident of Sanand. According to the FIR, on Tuesday morning Khavad and his associates rammed Chauhan's vehicle with two cars, forcing it off the road, near Chitrod village. The assailants, many of them masked, allegedly pulled Chauhan out of the vehicle, assaulted him with metal pipes and robbed him of Rs 42,000 in cash and other belongings. Chauhan suffered injuries to his left arm and leg. He alleged that Khavad, who he identified as the driver of one of the cars, threatened him with a revolver and warned him against going to the police. The assailants also damaged his car. Chauhan stated the attack was linked to an old dispute: Khavad allegedly took Rs 8 lakh for a dayro (performance) in their village but never turned up. As Chauhan's uncle, Bhagatsinh, filed a complaint over the matter, Khavad and his associates carried out the attack as a reprisal.
