When Rekha Shaped Shilpa Shirodkar's Eyebrows And Said ‘You Look Like Me'
Last Updated: Rekha shared a piece of advice with Shilpa Shirodkar's mother that resonated deeply. Shilpa Shirodkar, who is all set to make a smashing comeback to the lights-camera-action world with the upcoming supernatural thriller Jatadhara, recently opened up about a heartwarming memory with legendary actress Rekha. The Bollywood stars shared screen space in the 1989 film Bhrashtachar, and their off-screen bond continues to be a treasured chapter for Shilpa. In an interview with an entertainment media portal, she reminisced about a moment that left a lasting impression on her. During a candid chat with Zoom, Shilpa recalled an interaction during their early days in the industry. The actress revealed, 'I remember Rekha ji had done my eyebrows for the first time. And then she told me, 'Aapko bohot log bolte honge na you look like me.'" She smiled and further added, 'A lot of people used to say I looked like Rekha ji—some jhalak of her in me. I love her! She is just so loving and so lovely. It was so beautiful." But it wasn't just a compliment that Shilpa took to heart. During a magazine shoot, Rekha also shared a piece of advice with Shilpa's mother that resonated deeply. 'She told my mother during the shoot, 'Aapko ek baat bolti hoon. Ye industry bohot addictive hai. Yahan pe chhodna bohot mushkil ho jata hai. Lekin har cheez samay pe honi chahiye. Bas itna yaad rakhna (Let me tell you one thing. This industry is very addictive. It becomes very difficult to leave it. But everything should happen at the right time. Just remember that)," Shilpa revealed. She added, 'For my mother, those lines really left a mark because she always said kaam apni jagah hai lekin shaadi honi chahiye. Sab time to time hona chahiye (Work has its place, but marriage should happen. Everything should happen in time)." Shilpa made her Bollywood debut in Ramesh Sippy's Bhrashtachar alongside Mithun Chakraborty and Rekha. She then went on to star in hits like Aankhen, Kishen Kanhaiya, Khuda Gawah, Hum and Bewafa Sanam. In 2024, she made a brief but impactful return to the limelight by participating on Bigg Boss 18. Despite her strong presence and composed demeanour, Shilpa was unexpectedly evicted just before the grand finale. The season concluded on January 19 with Karan Veer Mehra taking home the trophy, while Vivian Dsena and Rajat Dalal emerged as the first and second runners-up. Now, Shilpa is all set to step back into cinema with Jatadhara, directed by Venkat Kalyan. The supernatural fantasy thriller features a stellar cast including Sudheer Babu, Sonakshi Sinha, Rain Anjali and Divya Vij. The film is produced by Prerna Arora, Shivin Narang, Aruna Agarwal, Akshay Kejriwal and Kussum Arora. It is worth noting that Sonakshi will make her Telugu debut with the film. Shilpa Shirodkar's return to the big screen promises to bring the same grace and charisma to Indian cinema. First Published:

Janhvi Kapoor likes a reel shading Madhuri Dixit's ‘vulgar' steps in Dhak Dhak; trolls joke ‘Algorithm ki galti hai'
Unintentional 'likes' on Instagram posts have been getting celebrities into trouble on social media this month. The first victim was cricketer Virat Kohli, whose official Instagram handle unknowingly 'liked' actor Avneet Kaur's picture shared by a fan page, on his wife Anushka Sharma's birthday. Virat later shared clarification that this action was not intentional. Interestingly, Avneet has been attending several matches and was rumoured to be dating Virat's fellow cricketer Shubman Gill. The next was Tamannaah Bhatia, who also blamed Instagram for unintentionally 'liking' a fan-made video of Deepika Padukone amid latter's controversy with Sandeep Reddy Vanga over his next film Spirit. Well, fans think the latest victim of the algorithm pandemic is Janhvi Kapoor, whose 'like' on a fan-made reel has left netizens in shock. A post shared by Janhvi Kapoor (@janhvikapoor) Unlike Virat Kohli and Tamannaah Bhatia, Janhvi Kapoor has not yet shared an official statement about 'liking' the video. But because of the content of this post, and Sridevi's rumoured rivalry with Madhuri, netizens are convinced that the actor will follow in Virat and Tamannaah's footsteps soon. What's so crazy about this clip? Well, it begins with a shot of Madhuri Dixit dancing to her iconic track Dhak Dhak Karne Laga from the 1992 film Beta. Over this clip are the words: 'Did vulgar step song and did nothing in the movie and won Filmfare Best Actress award.' Under this video is a clip of Janhvi's late mother Sridevi from the film Khuda Gawah, which released the same year. Here the caption reads, 'Did double role with landmark acting that carried whole movie on her shoulder still Filmfare ignored her for Best Actress.' When eagle eyed netizens pointed out that Janhvi Kapoor has 'liked' this Instagram reel, the internet obviously erupted. For instance, one social media user claimed, 'Guys!!! Algorithm ki galti hai dont blame JK 😡,' whereas another comment read, 'Loving this era of Kaleshi Bollywood. Acchi films nahi toh kalesh hi sahi 🤣.' A netizen shared, 'Another victim of the algorithm Instagram comes with a vaccine soon,' whereas another predicted, 'Wait for her to join Kohli - Tamanna gang of accidental like post.' Meanwhile, some trolled JK. One such angry Madhuri fan stated, 'WTF jahnvi How about her entire role in and her song Devara? What about that?,' whereas another harsh comment read, 'Irony of janhvi liking a reel shading doing thirst trap songs.' A post shared by Old Bollywood (@magical_cinema1990) But some fans did come out in Janhvi's defence, giving her the benefit of doubt. One such comment read, 'Ye bhi toh ho sakta hai, she saw her mom's pic, missed her and liked it? Like you get lost in the moment sometimes with all the focus on the picture of your deceased parent and nothing else? I think we can cut her some leash on this atleast.' As a member of the audience, who did you think was the star of 1992 — Madhuri Dixit in Beta or Sridevi in Khuda Gawah?
