Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, who portrayed wide range of roles, captivated audiences with his charm and personality. With a career spanning over 50 years, he became a huge name, not just in India but worldwide as well. In 1989, he appeared alongside one of India's biggest stars, Vinod Khanna, in the film Chandni, where he held his own and gave Khanna stiff competition. In his autobiography, Khullam Khulla, the late actor revealed about his two meetups with Dawood Ibrahim. The first happened in 1988, when he was in Dubai for 'Asha Bhosle-RD Burman night' and was spotted by Dawood's man at the airport. The guy than offered him his phone, saying, 'Dawood saab baat karenge (Dawood saab would like to speak to you).' He then invited Rishi Kapoor to his house. Dawood also discussed with him about the murder that he planned in the Mumbai court, an incident which later was shown in Sunny Deol's Arjun. Rishi Kapoor revealed in his autobiography that before leaving his house, Dawood told him, 'If you need anything at all, any money, anything, just feel free to ask me.' However, the actor refused. I don't know what made him go after my country the way he did. I have had no interaction with him at all after that chance meeting at the shoe shop.'

This Movie Made Dawood Ibrahim A Fan Of Rishi Kapoor, All Because Of The Hero's Name

Last Updated: Rishi Kapoor had been involved in the film industry since childhood, but did you know that one of his roles left such a strong impression that Dawood Ibrahim became a fan Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor, known for his charm and versatility, captivated the silver screen for decades, portraying roles ranging from romantic leads to emotionally complex characters. With a career spanning over 50 years, Kapoor became a beloved name not just in India but among cinema enthusiasts worldwide. While he delivered several iconic performances, one particular role in the mid-80s unexpectedly earned him a fan from an unlikely corner of society – the underworld. Debut With 'Bobby' The veteran actor made his debut with his father Raj Kapoor's film Bobby, opposite Dimple Kapadia, and became an overnight sensation and a beloved star in the industry. However, in 1985, he starred alongside Poonam Dhillon in a film that not only earned him critical acclaim but also sparked conversations about his popularity reaching into the underworld. Throughout his career, Rishi Kapoor romanced nearly every leading actress of his time and delivered numerous memorable films to Hindi cinema. He later chronicled his life and career in a book, aptly titled after the lyrics of one of his hit songs ' Khullam Khulla '. How Underworld Don Became a Fan Coming from a film family, Rishi Kapoor had been involved in the film industry since childhood. But did you know that one of his roles left such an impression that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim became a fan? Rishi Kapoor was not just a romantic icon from the 1970s through the 1990s—he also carved a space for himself among industry heavyweights like Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Shatrughan Sinha, and Vinod Khanna. In 1989, he appeared alongside Vinod Khanna in the film Chandni, where he held his own and gave Khanna stiff competition. Among Rishi Kapoor's many hit films, his performance in the 1985 film Tawaif stood out for an unusual reason and made underworld don Dawood Ibrahim his fan. Directed by BR Chopra, the film featured an ensemble cast including Rati Agnihotri, Poonam Dhillon, Ashok Kumar, Kader Khan, Deepak Parashar, Shashikala, Sushma Seth, Asrani, Shammi, Iftekhar, and Yunus Parvez. Kapoor revealed in his autobiography that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim was particularly fond of Tawaif, partly because his character in the film was also named Dawood. The actor mentioned in his book that he didn't understand what later caused Dawood Ibrahim to change so drastically and commit something as devastating as the Mumbai blasts. However, at that time, the don praised his performance enthusiastically and admired his work. First Published:

Ranbir Kapoor's sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni confirms her Bollywood debut, is shooting with mom Neetu Kapoor

Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, who belongs to the influential Kapoors of Bollywood, is finally going to follow in the footsteps of her family. She definitely has the right amount of legacy backing her, considering she will be a fourth-generation actor from the Kapoor family. Both her parents, Neetu Kapoor and the late Rishi Kapoor, were stalwarts in their own sense, and her brother, Ranbir Kapoor, is one of the defining actors of this generation. While the project is completely under wraps, Riddhima did mention a few details about the location of the shoot, saying, 'Yes, I am filming a movie in the hills, and all I can say is that we are shooting here till June.' Her mother Neetu Kapoor's presence during the shooting has also sparked rumours about her being a part of the film. Comedian and actor Kapil Sharma has also been speculated to join the cast alongside the Do Dooni Chaar actor, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. According to Riddhima, her mother is there at the set and is 'enjoying the process thoroughly'. Riddhima, who is the creative director of her own jewellery brand called 'R Jewellery', shot to fame after her stint on the reality TV show The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. The Netflix show featured Neelam Kothari, Maheep Kapoor, Bhavna Pandey, Seema Khan and Gauri Khan. Riddhima revealed that she had no plans of starring in movies and said, 'I didn't plan for this. When I was approached, I just said yes. I heard the script and loved it.' While she has rather big shoes to fill, Riddhima has shared that her family are extremely supportive of this move and are standing with her throughout it all. 'They are so excited. I keep sending them snippets of the scene, and yes, I'm fully supportive – the best part is Mom and I staying together and rehearsing our lines every day. Samara (daughter) is going to visit me once her school breaks for summer holidays.' Earlier, Neetu Kapoor had opened up on why Riddhima chose to get married and not pursue a career in acting. 'She is a wonderfully talented and beautiful girl. She's a fabulous mimic and would have given any actress a run for her money. But even as a child, she knew how much it would upset her father if she decided to become an actress. He doesn't think badly of actresses or feel that girls shouldn't work in movies. But he's zealously overprotective of his wife and children. Riddhima understood her father well. For the sake of his peace of mind, she never attempted to pursue acting as a career. Instead she said, 'I want to design clothes,' and Bob (Rishi) happily sent her to London to study,' Neetu had shared in Rishi's memoirs Khullam Khulla.

When Dimple Kapadia made bold comeback to films after her failed marriage with Rajesh Khanna; stirred controversy with onscreen kiss with Rishi Kapoor

Imagine being a regular teenager on day, and the next, the whole country is copying your style! That's exactly what happened to Dimple Kapadia after her movie Bobby hit the screens. Suddenly, everyone wanted her short skirts and the way she knotted her polka-dot shirts. Then, in a real-life fairy tale twist in 1973, this 15-year-old fan married the reigning king of Bollywood, the superstar Rajesh Khanna , who was twice her age at 30! Their love story blossomed, and soon they welcomed two adorable daughters, Twinkle Khanna and Rinke Khanna . And just like that, Dimple, the dazzling new star, stepped away from the bright lights of the film industry to embrace her new role as a wife and mother. She believed that motherhood shouldn't be a barrier to an actress making a comeback. Rekindled On-Screen Chemistry and Off-Screen Buzz During the filming of Bobby, there were strong rumours linking her romantically with Rishi. Their captivating on-screen connection in the film fueled speculation about a real-life romance between the two young actors. In Saagar, Dimple and Rishi shared a few kissing scenes, which were considered quite bold and drew considerable attention from the audience at the time. Rishi was reportedly concerned that the intimate scenes he filmed with Dimple might make his wife, Neetu Kapoor , feel insecure. To avoid this, he decided not to tell her about the kissing scene in their movie. However, Neetu's reaction after the film's premiere was quite unexpected. Instead of being upset, she told Rishi that she was unimpressed with his kissing and jokingly said he seemed like a bad kisser, much to his relief. After Bobby became a massive success, the pairing of Rishi and Dimple was incredibly popular, and gossip columns buzzed with rumours of a romantic relationship between them. Years later, in his autobiography, Khullam Khulla, Rishi revealed that Neetu admitted feeling insecure when he and Dimple were cast together again in the film Saagar. However, Rishi clarified in his book that Neetu had no reason to worry. He explained that while his relationship with Dimple might have been slightly more than just friendship during the making of Bobby, a decade had passed since then. At the time of Saagar, Dimple was a mother of two, navigating life after her marriage, and Rishi himself was happily married with two children. Fading Stardom and a Difficult Decision After Dimple and Rajesh Khanna had been married for some time, Rajesh's movies started to flop in the 1970s and 1980s. This made the once hugely popular actor struggle with failure, and it created problems in his relationship with Dimple. Even though Dimple tried hard to fix their marriage, she couldn't, and they separated in 1984. Later, Dimple confessed that marrying such a big star had been a mistake.
