WPC Announces Launch of Ki Certification Testing

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The kitchen of the future is one giant step closer to reality with the completion of Ki certification testing of the first Ki Cordless Kitchen products. Following the release of the Ki specification last December, advancing Ki Cordless Kitchen products through certification testing represents a significant milestone in the launch of WPC's newest standard in the application of wireless power. Ki's launch follows the launch of Qi2, WPC's highly successful next-generation standard for small consumer electronics, which was available in over 1.5 billion devices worldwide by the end of its first year. The Ki Cordless Kitchen standard revolutionizes everyday kitchen appliances – such as blenders, toasters, air fryers, and water kettles – by eliminating power cords and adding a communication channel between the appliance and the Ki power unit. The Ki power function will initially be available in induction cooktops or standalone Ki power units. Future Ki releases in development are aimed at adding support for concealed Ki power units mounted under countertops or kitchen islands. 'The Ki standard brings unprecedented innovation to the most used room in the house - the kitchen', said Paul Struhsaker, Executive Director of the WPC. 'Ki eliminates the mess, inconvenience and potential safety issues of power cords, which is something consumers have told us repeatedly is an important benefit. Ki will not only change the way people cook and prepare food by making cooking and clean up easier, but it will even change the way kitchens look, enabling sleek modern designs and better utilization of space. We congratulate, Elektro-Gerätebau Oberderdingen GmbH (E.G.O)., Koninklijke Philips NV, Telecommunications Technology Association of Korea (TTA), Resillion (Belgium), and Defion BV for leading the way in Ki's launch: E.G.O. for the first Ki certified induction module, Philips for contributing its Ki technology, TTA and Resillion for becoming the first authorized Ki certification test labs, and Defion for providing the certification tools and equipment supporting the development of Ki Cordless Kitchen products." Opportunities to learn more about Ki WPC members will be conducting two Ki seminars in June: in Seoul June 25 th hosted by TTA and in Guangzhou June 27 th hosted by SGS. More information will be available on the WPC website shortly. Members of WPC's leadership team will be at IFA Berlin in September to meet with companies interested in the Ki standard and WPC membership. If you will be at IFA and are interested in meeting to learn more, please let us know through the contact information below. The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) is the prevailing standards organization for wireless power applications worldwide, representing more than 300 member companies including industry leaders such as Apple, Bosch, Google, Huawei, Philips and Samsung. Since its founding in 2008, the WPC has provided consumers and manufacturers with a vision of wireless power that is convenient, safe, and efficient while ensuring standardized testing offers products that are certificated and interoperable. The WPC's Qi standard is the global standard for wireless charging mobile, handheld electronic devices. Bitter Prince Harry has major FOMO – be man enough to own your decisions, expert slams

The Royal dropped some bombshells in his surprise BBC interview, but experts say he's hitting out at the Palace because he's missing it. Notably, Harry did not appear at VE Day celebrations and has not appeared standing with the veterans at previous events. Robert said: "Maybe there was a degree of that bitterness in what he gave that interview with the BBC, a sense, again, he wasn't there - and he knows he should be there. "A lot of people blame Meghan for a lot, I don't blame her at all. "I think he's got to be man enough to make his own decisions and some of the decisions he's made have been absolutely got wrong. "Nobody said you shouldn't go away and have a private life but if he hadn't done the book and if he hadn't done the Oprah interview, there's no doubt in my view that he would have been invited back to do certain things." Legendary Royal photographer Arthur Edwards agreed Harry should own up to his mistakes. He added: "And when he had the chance to correct a lot of it, he didn't do that." "He didn't say 'look, I probably got that wrong, Dad, and I'm sorry, William.' "I mean, what he did, it was pretty treacherous." Prince Harry's treacherous, he called William a bully & slammed Kate - just say sorry In the scathing attack, the Duke of Sussex unleashed a host of new claims including how dad Charles is no longer speaking to him and how he's "uncovered his worst fears". He said he would "love reconciliation" with the royal family but claims there is nothing he can do. Whether they will make up, according to the Duke, will ultimately be up to his father, saying: "It's in his hands." He added: "I have no idea how much longer my father has - he is no longer speaking to me - but it would be nice to reconcile." Throughout the interview, Harry also slammed the UK, saying he felt "let down" by his country and insists he will no longer be returning to his homeland. He also described his court loss as a "good old fashioned establishment stitch up" and also took at swipe at William and Kate. Despite his claims of seeking a reconciliation, Harry said he had no regrets even if his family would never forgive him. Arthur believes if this is what Harry truly wants, he should have taken a different approach during his interview. He continued: "If he'd have said in that interview 'I'm sorry Dad for what I've done,' I think then the King would have probably said 'okay let's have a chat.' "All he needs to do is say sorry and that he's not going to do it again, not going to betray the Royal family again - he just got it all wrong." Robert pinned the interview as an "emotional outburst" and agreed that the interview was a mistake. He added: "The big problem with Harry is that even if there was an attempt at a reconciliation with a private conversation, you can't trust him that those conversations would probably become public." The Duke of Sussex started feuding with his family, including his own brother Prince William, since he and Meghan stepped down as working royals in 2020. In the interview, he said: "There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family." Another tragic revelation in the bombshell interview was when Prince Harry revealed that his father, King Charles, won't speak to him. Harry said when making the emotional admission: "He won't speak to me because of this security stuff." After the interview, Buckingham Palace had broken its silence with a scathing statement. A spokesperson said: "All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion." Shortly after the wave-making interview, the BBC admitted an embarrassing "lapse in standards" over its coverage of Harry's security case court loss. In a statement the broadcaster has now said: "The programme covered the latest developments in the story of Prince Harry and his legal case around protection for him and his family in the UK and interviewed former close protection officer Richard Aitch to get a broader understanding of security considerations. "Claims were repeated that the process had been 'an establishment stitch-up' and we failed to properly challenge this and other allegations. "This case is ultimately the responsibility of the Home Office and we should have reflected their statement: 'We are pleased that the Court has found in favour of the Government's position in this case. "'The UK Government's protective security system is rigorous and proportionate. It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals' security.' "We also should have given the view of Buckingham Palace: 'All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion.' "This was a lapse in our usual high editorial standards." Harry's fiery statement in full as duke takes swipe at Charles over security row & makes claims over 'shocking truths' By Emily Jane Davies FURIOUS Prince Harry has taken another swipe at the royal family, accusing them of being the reason his security was axed after Megxit. Hours after his astonishing BBC interview, the defeated prince released a second tirade blaming his family for the row. Harry later released a statement, saying that the legal action was a last resort but it uncovered "shocking truths". He revealed he will be writing to the Home Secretary to ask her to review the matter. The 40-year-old claimed that the "Royal Household are key decision-makers on RAVEC". "Before the Royal Household's role on RAVEC was known, this secretive committee concluded that when my wife would join the royal family, she should not receive protection. "Only when I asked for the name of the person willing to carry that risk did they reverse the decision." Speaking of the decision to strip the Sussexes of their security after Megxit, he said: "This reckless action knowingly put me and my family in harm's way. Life is precious and I understand the fragility of it." The prince went on to say he remains committed to a life of public service and said: "All I've been asking for is safety." Harry continued: "To this present day, the Royal Household remain my sole representation on RAVEC for every visit and could call for this assessment to be done at any point. "The only possible conclusion that can be drawn is that they choose not to because they known the outcome would prove that my security should never have been removed in the first place. "My family and I have been subjected to well-documented neo-Nazi and extremist threats, including from Al-Qaeda." The prince went on to slam the lack of a risk assessment as a "dereliction of duty". Harry said he was born into "lifelong circumstances that create inherent security risks" as a royal. He went on to say his hands have now been tied in seeking "legal recourse against the establishment". "This all comes from the same institutions that preyed upon my mother, that openly campaigned for the removal of our security, and continue to incite hatred towards me, my wife and even our children, while at the same time protecting the very power that they should be holding accountable." 5 A royal expert claimed he needed to own up to his decisions Credit: Getty

Net premiums written by the property and casualty insurance and reinsurance operations reported an 8.4% rise in net premiums written to $6.77bn from $6.24bn in the previous year. However, the underwriting profit from these operations decreased to $96.9m, a drop from the $373m reported in 2024. The adjusted operating income for these operations also saw a reduction to $685.5m, primarily due to the impact of the California wildfires on underwriting profits. On 31 March 2025, Fairfax Financial redeemed its Series E, Series F, and Series M preferred shares, with an aggregate carrying value of $352.1m, for $290.8m, or C$25.00 per share. Fairfax Financial chairman and CEO Prem Watsa said: 'Net gains on investments of $1,056.1 million in the quarter was principally comprised of net gains on common stocks of $779.5 million and mark to market gains on bonds of $388.4 million. 'We remain focused on being soundly financed and ended the quarter with approximately $2.1 billion of cash and marketable securities and an additional $1.7 billion, at fair value, of investments in associates and consolidated non-insurance companies owned by the holding company.' Earlier in the year, Lloyd's syndicate Ki became a stand-alone entity within Fairfax Group following its separation from the parent company. For the fourth quarter of 2024, the company reported net earnings attributable to shareholders of $1.15bn, a decrease of 14.7% from $1.32bn in the fourth quarter of 2023. The annual figures for 2024 also showed a downturn, with net earnings totalling $4.2bn, a 19% decline from $5bn in 2023. Fact Check: 2023 video from Gaza VIRAL as India's revenge on Pakistan after Pahalgam attack

On the night of April 28-29, the Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked firing across the Line of Control for the fifth consecutive time following the terror attack in Pahalgam. Pakistan's defence minister said on April 28 that 'a military incursion' by India was imminent in the aftermath of the Pahalgam a video of people running helter-skelter amid heavy bombardment at a distance is being widely shared online with the claim that India conducted this attack at the India-Pakistan border to avenge the Pahalgam massacre. advertisementSharing the video on Facebook, one person wrote, 'Pakistan situation now. Bharat Mata Ki Jai. #Pahalgam Terror Attack.' India Today Fact Check, however, found that this video is from the Gaza Strip, and is more than a year ProbeReverse-searching keyframes from the viral video led us to a Facebook post from November 10, 2023, by Omar Suleiman, an American Islamic scholar and civil rights activist. Its caption stated that Israel dropped bombs on the Indonesia Hospital outside the Jabalia Refugee Camp in then found multiple news reports about this incident. According to them, people fled from a hospital in Beit Lahia in Gaza during an Israeli strike in a nearby street. An Al Jazeera video report about this featured the viral clip, along with some other footage from the Per reports, hundreds of people were injured in this Israeli airstrike near the Indonesia Hospital, which was opened in Beit Lahia in 2015. The hospital, built from donations raised by an NGO, was one of the last remaining hospitals in Gaza. A week before this attack, the Israeli military had claimed that Hamas was using this hospital 'to hide an underground command and control center'.Back in October 2024, the same video was shared on social media as Israel's attack on Iran. We had debunked it at the time as is thus clear that a 2023 video from Gaza was falsely linked to the ongoing India-Pakistan tensions. Want to send us something for verification?
