One dead, one seriously injured in U.S. 24 crash near Topeka
SHAWNEE COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — A 22-year-old woman was killed and another driver seriously injured Friday afternoon in a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 24, just east of Goodyear Road in Shawnee County. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 2 p.m. when a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe traveling eastbound veered off the right side of the road. The driver, identified as Anya Joann Turner of Topeka, overcorrected, crossed the median, and entered westbound traffic—where her vehicle collided with a westbound 2020 Kia Forte. Deputy fires shot outside Finney County LEC Turner was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Kia, a 32-year-old woman, also of Topeka, sustained suspected serious injuries. Wanted Rockford woman arrested after leading officers on a chase
LOVES PARK, Ill. (WTVO) — Loves Park Police arrested Jessica Goelz, 34, for allegedly leading officers on a car chase. On May 27, around 8 p.m., officers were patrolling the area of Harlem and Alpine Roads when they saw a black Kia Forte that abruptly turned into a BP gas station upon being followed. Authorities were able to determine that the driver, Goelz, had an expired license and was wanted for not appearing in court. Officials attempted to stop the suspect's car, but she pulled away onto North Alpine. She made a series of turns, all while speeding 40 miles per hour over the limit, according to court records. Officers stopped pursuing the vehicle at that time. About three hours later, police found Goelz in the 5900 block of Weymouth Drive and took her into custody. Police look for car stolen from Brighton, Vermont
BRIGHTON, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – Vermont State Police are looking for a car that was reportedly stolen from Brighton Monday. The vehicle, a 2010 Kia Forte, was taken from Curran Avenue. This grey car has the license plate number KTZ763. Anyone with information about this situation can call VSP at 802-334-8881. 23-year-old struck twice on I-4 after crash: FHP
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (WFLA) — A man died after being struck by two cars on Interstate 4 on Monday. The incident happened on the I-4 exit ramp to U.S. Highway 192 near mile marker 64. A Kia Forte was heading west when the driver lost control, veered off the road and struck a tree before overturning, according to a report from NBC affiliate WESH. The driver went to a nearby hotel for help. The passenger ran across the eastbound lanes of I-4. The passenger was struck by two vehicles in the westbound lanes. Man killed crossing I-4 after initially surviving crash; troopers search for driver
The Brief After surviving an early morning crash on I-4 in Osceola County, a 23-year-old man was hit and killed while trying to cross the highway. Troopers believe two vehicles hit him—and now they're trying to locate one driver who fled the scene. OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. - A 23-year-old man who initially survived a crash on Interstate 4 in Osceola County died Monday morning after troopers said he got out of the car and attempted to cross multiple lanes of traffic where he was struck by two vehicles. Now, troopers are searching for one of the drivers who left the scene after the incident. What we know According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the initial crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-4 at the exit ramp to U.S. 192 in Kissimmee. A 2024 Kia Forte failed to navigate a right-hand curve, lost control, hit a guardrail, went airborne, struck a tree and a barrier wall, and then overturned. Both occupants of the Kia – two 23-year-old men – were able to get out of the vehicle after the crash. Troopers said the driver walked to a nearby hotel to seek help and was later taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger reportedly walked northeast, crossing the eastbound lanes of I-4, the median, and then entered the westbound lanes. There, he was struck by a 2024 Honda Odyssey. Investigators believe a second vehicle may have also hit the man as he lay in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Honda was not injured and remained at the scene. What we don't know Troopers did not immediately reveal a description of the second vehicle they believe hit the man.
