Kia Launches Impressive 2025 Niro EV Lease Offer
Maybe, unlike most Americans, you've decided that an EV would be an ideal new vehicle – until you saw their purchase price. Well, it seems that Kia has your solution in the 2025 Kia Niro EV. While the Kia Niro is available as a 139-horsepower hybrid or 180-horsepower plug-in hybrid, it's the 204-horsepower EV that offers the most power and 253 miles of range. Kia quotes a 0-62 mph time of 7.8 seconds, which is adequate for gas-powered cars, but pokey for an EV. The Niro EV can be recharged to 80% in 65 minutes with a 50-kW fast charger. An 11-kW on-board charger for home charging is standard. Offered in base Wind or upgraded Wave trim, the compact Niro EV has a generous 100 cubic feet of passenger space and anywhere from 23-to-100 cubic feet of cargo space depending on how many seats are in use. The instrument panel features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen. USB-A and USB-C ports are fitted to both rows. A Wireless phone charger, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and HD Radio are standard, as is a Harman Kardon premium audio system in the Wave trim. Sound enticing? Wait until you check out the lease. If you live on the West Coast, where the competition for EV sales is fierce, you can lease the 2025 Kia Niro Wind EV for $149 a month for 24 months and 20,000 miles with $3,999 down and no security deposit. In South Florida, Detroit, or Dallas, it's yours for $169 a month. Manhattan and Philadelphia-area residents also get a good deal at $129 a month with $3,999 down. However, none can compare to Denver, where you can lease a 2025 Kia Niro EV for just $99 a month with a $1,940 down payment for 24 months and 20,000 miles, thanks to the $4,100 Colorado Innovative Motor Vehicle Tax Credit. When assigned to Kia Finance, the cost to lease this puppy is mere peanuts. Keep in mind that, when leasing, consider the monthly payment cost, taxes, and fees before signing. Lease offers vary by metro market. Check your local pricing here. If you don't have $3,999 to put down, you can lease a 2025 Kia Niro EV in Los Angeles or elsewhere on the West Coast for $316 a month. In South Florida, Detroit, or Dallas, it costs slightly more at $336 a month. City dwellers in Philly and New York can get one for $296 a month, which is also a pretty sweet deal. Denver lessees have the best deal, though, thanks to the $4,100 Colorado Innovative Motor Vehicle Tax Credit with a payment of $180 a month to lease a Niro EV for 24 months with nothing down. All lease deals for the 2025 Kia Niro Wind EV feature the same $25,416.90 purchase option at lease end. The 2025 Kia Niro EV isn't necessarily sporty, nor is it the quickest of EVs, but it provides a spacious package in a compact footprint that's perfect for city dwellers. Its performance is also more than punchy enough to deal with the cut and thrust of urban driving warfare, and it features an up-to-date tech package with a fetchingly modern design. Yes, there are quicker, sportier EVs, but you'll pay more without necessarily getting a better package. *Disclaimer: This article is provided for informational purposes only. This means Suburban buyers won't pay any interest on their loans for five years. The average car loan is close to six years, according to Nerdwallet. 2026 Kia Niro EV Pricing, and Specs
Overview If you want a small yet practical EV but don't need the latest and greatest powertrain and charging capabilities, the Kia Niro EV is worth a look. Its modern styling is just a bit different from the mainstream, and its small size makes it supremely maneuverable. Still, there's decent room inside for you and your stuff. It's no sports car, but the driving experience is appropriately relaxed, and the EPA estimates 253 miles on a charge—behind some competitors but still useful for daily driving. If you like the Niro's package but prefer something with a gas engine, check out the hybrid and plug-in-hybrid versions, which we review separately. What's New for 2026? There are no major changes to the Niro EV for this model year. Pricing and Which One to Buy The price of the 2026 Kia Niro EV is expected to start around $41,000 and go up to $46,000 depending on the trim and options. Wind $41,000 (est) Wave $46,000 (est) 0 $10k $20k $30k $40k $50k $60k $70k We'd stick with the entry-level Wind trim, as upgrading to the Wave model doesn't result in any increases in driving range or performance. Plus, the Wind comes standard with plenty of niceties, including a large 10.3-inch infotainment display with navigation, heated front seats, ambient interior lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, a host of driver-assistance features, and a wireless smartphone charging pad. This content is imported from Third party. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site. EV Motor, Power, and Performance A single electric motor feeding the front wheels is the Niro EV's sole powertrain. Kia says this setup generates 201 horsepower, which makes it more powerful than the 139-hp hybrid and 180-hp plug-in-hybrid Niro sister models. In real-world driving, the Niro EV easily keeps up with city traffic and doesn't strain when merging onto the highway—so long as you don't have it in Eco mode. Floor the accelerator in Eco and the Niro EV veritably crawls, which is no doubt good for extending driving range but not great for your outlook on life. Normal and Sport driving modes let the Niro EV feel more alive. The Niro EV's steering is accurate and progressive, but the cornering grip is measurably lower than some rivals'—not that you would mistake the Niro for anything remotely sporty. 0–60-MPH Times In our testing, the Niro EV took 6.7 seconds to reach 60 mph—not slow for a gas-engine vehicle, but relaxed by EV standards. View Photos Marc Urbano | Car and Driver More on the Niro EV SUV Tested: 2023 Kia Niro EV Takes On the Chevy Bolt Range, Charging, and Battery Life The Niro EV has an EPA-estimated range of 253 miles per charge. When connected to a DC fast charger the company says it can charge its 64.8-kWh battery from 10 to 80 percent in about 45 minutes—far from lightning quick. During our 75-mph highway fuel-economy test, the Niro delivered a credible 210 miles of driving before needing to be recharged. Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe The EPA hasn't released fuel economy estimates for the 2026 Niro EV yet, but the 2025 model was rated for 126 MPGe city and 101 MPGe highway, which is much better than the most efficient Volkswagen ID.4 model. MPGe stands for miles per gallon of gas equivalent, an EPA metric that estimates PHEV and EV vehicle fuel efficiency. For more information about the Niro EV's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website. Interior, Comfort, and Cargo Inside, the Niro EV features a contemporary design that's peppered with eco-friendly materials; for instance, elements from eucalyptus leaves are used to make the seat coverings. Kia's designers have incorporated stylishly angled surfaces into the door panels and the top of the dashboard. The 10.3-inch digital instrument panel and handsome infotainment display highlight the cabin's technical vibe. The steering wheel has a distinctive two-spoke design, and the center console hosts a rotary shifter. Small-item storage is plentiful, with large door pockets and useful cubbies in the center console. View Photos Marc Urbano | Car and Driver Infotainment and Connectivity A 10.3-inch touchscreen acts as the central hub of the Niro EV's infotainment system. While wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, wireless charging and a Harman/Kardon stereo are extra-cost options. A digital key feature allows users to remotely access vehicle functions via their smartphone. Likewise, some functions can be controlled using voice-command services like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Safety and Driver-Assistance Features The Niro EV includes a host of standard driver-assistance technology as well as some optional equipment. For more information about the Niro EV's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. 2026 Toyota C-HR: What We Know So Far
Overview After a four-year hiatus, the Toyota C-HR is back with a new look and an electric powertrain. It slots in as a subcompact alternative to the newly redesigned Toyota bZ, which shares the same platform. Under its sharply angled sheetmetal, the C-HR features two electric motors, one at the front and one at the rear, granting it standard all-wheel drive and a total output of 338 horsepower. With juice supplied by a sizable 74.7-kWh battery pack, Toyota estimates that the C-HR can manage 290 miles on a full charge. Charging is done via an NACS charging port, which allows the C-HR to charge at Tesla Superchargers. If the C-HR's real-world performance lives up to these estimates, it will be a class leader in both power and range. What's New for 2026? This isn't the first time that the C-HR nameplate has been offered in U.S. markets, as a gas-powered version was sold here from 2018 to 2022. But the 2026 model is a new generation with an electric powertrain. The C-HR is built on the same e-TNGA platform that underpins the refreshed Toyota bZ compact electric crossover and will act as that model's smaller counterpart. Pricing and Which One to Buy The price of the 2026 Toyota C-HR is expected to start around $35,000 and go up to $38,000 depending on the trim and options. SE $35,000 (est) XSE $38,000 (est) 0 $10k $20k $30k $40k $50k $60k Toyota hasn't yet released any pricing information for the C-HR, but we know that it will be offered in two trims: SE and XSE. Both trims come well equipped with heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a power liftgate, a 14.0-inch infotainment display, and dual wireless phone chargers. The XSE builds on the SE's standard features by adding larger 20-inch wheels, synthetic suede-trimmed seats, an 8-way power passenger seat, lane change assist, and two-tone paint options. EV Motor, Power, and Performance The C-HR features two electric motors on the front and rear axles, granting it standard all-wheel drive. The combined output is 338 horsepower, which is an impressive figure for such a small subcompact crossover. That is 137 extra horsepower compared with what both the Hyundai Kona Electric and Kia Niro EV offer in their highest-output trims. This setup is sure to make the C-HR feel impressively quick. We'll report back once we have a chance to drive the C-HR and can either confirm or deny that claim. 0–60-MPH Times Toyota claims that the C-HR can reach 60 mph in around 5.0 seconds. We'll update this section when we have a chance to test the C-HR's acceleration capabilities for ourselves. View Photos Toyota More on the C-HR SUV Toyota C-HR Returns as a 338-HP EV SUV with AWD Range, Charging, and Battery Life The C-HR uses a NACS (North American Charging Standard) port, allowing it to charge at Tesla Superchargers. Toyota says that under ideal conditions, it can charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes at a Level 3 DC fast-charger. It also supports quick AC charging with its 11-kW on-board AC charger. Unlike the larger bZ, which offers two different battery pack options, the C-HR is only offered with a 74.7-kWh battery pack, which Toyota estimates will allow for up to 290 miles of driving range on a full charge. Interior, Comfort, and Cargo The C-HR has a cozy and contemporary interior that incorporates a digital gauge display and a 14.0-inch central touchscreen. Its dashboard design is sleek and uncluttered, with a customizable LED light strip running across it. The wide center console between the front seats features two wireless smartphone charging pads and open storage underneath, although there's no glovebox. As to be expected from an electric subcompact SUV with puny proportions, the C-HR doesn't have much cargo space. With the 60/40 fold-flat rear seats in their upright position, there is 25 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk. View Photos Toyota Infotainment and Connectivity The C-HR's infotainment needs are fulfilled by a 14.0-inch display that is operated by a combination of physical and touch controls. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, which plays audio through a six-speaker or optional nine-speaker audio system. Two wireless smartphone chargers sit below the central screen. Safety and Driver-Assistance Features Like many other Toyota models, the C-HR comes standard with a suite of driver-assistance features, including pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, and automated emergency braking. For more information about the C-HR's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include: Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection Standard lane departure warning with lane-keeping assist Standard adaptive cruise control Warranty and Maintenance Coverage Toyota matches what its competitors offer, but it provides above-average coverage when it comes to complimentary maintenance. Likewise, its electrical component warranty is at industry-standard levels. Limited warranty covers three years or 36,000 miles Powertrain warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles Electrical components are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles Complimentary maintenance is covered for two years or 25,000 miles As more information becomes available, we'll update this story with more details about:

2025 Volvo EX30: 4 Reasons to Love It, 2 Reasons to Look Elsewhere
Volvo is slowly filling out its EV offerings in the United States, and the EX30 is the Swedish automaker's latest entry. The 2025 Volvo EX30 was expected to arrive in single and dual-motor versions, but the former is still up in the air. While the dual-motor Volvo EX30 is a powerhouse, there are a few issues to take into account before you buy. View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article The Volvo EX30 was supposed to arrive in the summer of 2024, but the automaker chose to delay its arrival until the end of the year. As a new nameplate for the 2025 model year, the EX30 is only available in dual motor form. The single-motor version is still expected, but there's no confirmed arrival date just yet. The Volvo EX30 is a true powerhouse, especially in its twin motor form, which just so happens to be the only powertrain available. The two motors are paired with a 69 kWh battery and standard all-wheel drive that generate 422 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. With a 0-to-60 mph time of just 3.4 seconds, the EX30 is the fastest-accelerating Volvo to ever grace roadways. The EX30 has a significant advantage over the only other all-wheel drive EV in its class, the Mini Countryman Electric. Mini's EV enters the arena with 308 horsepower and 364 lb-ft of torque, pushing it to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds, two seconds behind the EX30. Range anxiety is a major cause of concern for consumers new to EVs. The Volvo EX30 helps alleviate that anxiety with a standard 253-mile range with the dual motor powertrain. That puts it on par with the Kia Niro EV, which also offers a 253-mile range, and in striking range of the Hyundai Kona Electric's 261-mile range. The EX30 also easily beats out the Mini Countryman Electric's 212-mile range. Charging speeds can also be a deciding factor when it comes to EVs. Fortunately, the Volvo EX30 is fairly quick, charging from 10% to 80% in just 26 minutes at a DC fast charging station. That's a good deal faster than the Kia Niro EV, which charges from 10% to 80% in 45 minutes. The EX30 can also charge from zero to 100% in eight hours when using a standard home outlet. Given that the single motor variant has been delayed, the dual motor powertrain gives every EX30 currently on the market standard all-wheel drive. The Hyundai Kona Electric nor the Kia Niro EV don't even come with all-wheel drive as an optional upgrade, let alone as a standard feature. With a standard twin-motor powertrain comes a hefty starting price. The 2025 Volvo EX30 starts at $44,900, with the range-topping Ultra trim coming in at $46,600, excluding the $1,295 destination fee. According to a Volvo press release, the single-motor version will start at $34,950, or nearly $10,000 less than the dual-motor model. On top of its lower price, the single-motor model has an expected range of 275 miles, placing it at the top of its class. Volvo has made some interesting changes with the all-electric EX30, the most obvious of which is the lack of a dedicated gauge display. Instead, the Swedish automaker has opted for a vertically oriented display that houses both the infotainment system and gauges. That could take some getting used to if you've become accustomed to a display gauge above the steering wheel. The 2025 Volvo EX30 is an upscale crossover that fills a void in the small crossover segment. While there are only three other models in its class, only one holds a candle to the EX30's style, tech, and reputation. Give the Mini Countryman Electric a test drive before you make your final decision, at least until the single-motor EX30 makes its debut.
