Priya Sachdev Called Sunjay Kapur And Karisma Kapoor's Children Her Own: 'We Have 4 Kids'

Last Updated: Priya Sachdev calls Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur's kids her own, saying 'We have four children.' She highlights trust, friendship, and Gen Z parenting. Just days before the sudden passing of businessman Sunjay Kapur, his wife Priya Sachdev opened up about their blended family, parenting Gen Z kids, and her warm equation with Sunjay's ex-wife, actor Karisma Kapoor. In a candid interview with Siddhant Digvijay Jaitha, Priya reflected on modern-day parenting, emotional intelligence, and the importance of creating a healthy home for all the children they co-parented together. Speaking about how parenting today differs from her own upbringing, Priya said, 'Kids today are different. Unlike us, they use logic. They ask questions and you need to give them a logical explanation. There is so much more information coming to the Gen Z through their phones, internet, social media and streaming platforms. With so much content around, they are far more aware, evolved and mature than we were. They are so much more ahead even in terms of technology. To keep up with them, we need to keep a check on what is happening with the AI and tech. When we know their language, it gets much more easier to speak with them. Friendship is very important." The mother of two also emphasized the importance of trust and emotional safety. 'I have my 18-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son. These kids are very healthy. They workout, they eat right, and they work very hard. The way for them to do that is to create a healthy environment at home. They should never feel scared of their parents. I trust and respect our children. Gen Z are not rebellious. They don't argue back," she shared. Priya, who married Sunjay in 2017, included his children with Karisma—Samaira and Kiaan—as her own. 'We have a 20-year-old, a 18-year-old, a 15-year-old and a 6-year-old," she said, referring to their combined family of four children: Samaira (20), Safira (18), Kiaan (15), and Azarius (6). In a previous interview with Kin and Kindness, Priya had also touched upon the evolving relationship with Karisma Kapoor, showing how maturity and shared love for the children helped them overcome past differences. 'The children have also requested me, saying, 'Mama doesn't have a plan… can we invite her?' Because we don't want her to feel [left out]… and I was like of course she's more than welcome because I'm confident about my relationship with my husband and she's in a very good space and she wants the children to bond with the father and so everyone's grown out of their own insecurities and issues," she revealed. She continued, 'We've had conversations, like it's not about us anymore, or our insecurities or our issues. Our two daughters are so close also, so besides our little boy, when he was born the two girls bonded and that created the bond between Kiaan as well. And my little boy Azarius is a big fan of his older brother. Samaira and Kiaan are also from a broken home, so, for them also, their EQ is very high." Sunjay Kapur, who passed away on June 12, 2025, at the age of 53, had married Karisma Kapoor in 2003. The couple had Samaira and Kiaan before their divorce was finalized in 2016. He married Priya Sachdev the following year and later welcomed Azarius. Their family bond, despite its unconventional shape, was rooted in empathy, understanding, and mutual respect—something Priya Sachdev continues to honour in her heartfelt recollections.
