Lady Chiefs top Titans to advance to Class 6 Final Four
SPRINGFIELD–The Kickapoo Lady Chiefs basketball team is headed back to Columbia, after defeating Lee Summit West, 64-48, in the Class 6 State Quarterfinals.
Mikayla Pilley was an absolute wrecking ball against the Titans defense. Pilley scored 15 points, in the first half alone, as she powered the Lady Chiefs to a 30-26 edge at intermission.
In the second half, the senior guard continued her onslaught, adding another dozen points to her total. Pilley finished with a game-high 27, as she and the Lady Chiefs pulled away to coast to an easy victory.
With the win, Kickapoo will make its second straight trip to the Class 6 Semifinals and fourth in the last five years. Last season, the Lady Chiefs finished runners-up in the state title game to private school juggernaut, Incarnate Word. The Red Wolves are also in the Final Four and would face each other in a rematch if they both advance to the championship game.
