NFL commissioner Roger Goodell stuns crowd with bizarre fancy dress outfit to reveal Christmas Day games
With the NFL set to release its schedule for the 2025 season on Wednesday, multiple special games on the regular season calendar are being teased and dropped along the way. That includes the NFL Kickoff Game to open the season between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys - as well as the myriad of international games. But before the full schedule dropped Wednesday, Goodell appeared at a Netflix conference to announce the Christmas Day games the streaming giant would be broadcasting. Goodell walked out on stage in festive attire - despite Christmas being many months away. The longtime NFL commissioner arrived in a red, full-length Santa Claus outfit - complete with white fur trim on the cuffs and the lapels. Those present at the conference surely appreciated Goodell bringing some Christmas spirit to the proceedings - as he revealed that two inter-division matchups would be on offer. First, the streaming platform would broadcast a game between two NFC East rivals in the Washington Commanders and the Dallas Cowboys in the early afternoon. Then, the NFC North's Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings will wrap up the evening. 2024 was the first year of a three-year deal between the league and Netflix for the streamer to broadcast games over the holiday. Last year, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens demolished the Houston Texans in the two games Netflix showed. In addition to the two games on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video will broadcast a night-time game between the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs. The full NFL schedule release is expected to take place on Wednesday evening at 8:00pm eastern time.
