Offord wants 'more days like' this after hat-trick

Linfield striker Kieran Offord said he was "buzzing" to contribute after his hat-trick helped the Blues beat Dungannon Swifts 3-0. Offord's three goals came in the second half as Linfield began their title defence with a comfortable win at Windsor Park. And the striker, who joined the Blues in January, hopes his treble can kickstart his career at the south Belfast club. "It's the perfect day, three points and three goals," he told BBC Sport NI. "Second half we kept doing the right thing and eventually it came. the difference was we had three chances, and we took them. "I have a few personal targets and when you start to tick them off in one game it gives you confidence. I want more days like today where my goals help the team get three points."

You can win things with kids: Crusaders winger confident club's young guns can shock big hitters

Crusaders' flying winger Stewart Nixon has backed the club's new young guns to shoot down a few big hitters this season. Following on from the productive move for striker Kieran Offord before he jumped ship for Linfield, the north Belfast side have continued to cast their recruitment net beyond Northern Irish shores by bringing in Kieran McKechnie from Arbroath, Brendan Hamilton from Aberdeen, Musa Dibaga and Adam Brooks from Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Elliot Dunlop from Airdrie and Ayr United's Fraser Bryden.

Víkingur v Linfield

Update: Date: 19:33 BST Title: Post Content: Vikingur 1-1 Linfield Another good chance for Linfield, owing to a piece of individual skill from Kieran Offord, who sets off on a strong run and ghosts past defender Arnbjorn Svensson before getting a fierce strike away from inside the penalty area. The effort is on target at the near post but keeper Armgrimsson is well positioned to beat the ball away before it is eventually cleared. Can Linfield secure a positive result to take into next week's second leg at Windsor Park? Update: Date: 18:58 BST Title: Post Content: Vikingur v Linfield (19:00 BST) There's certainly no lack of experience as the two captains come together to shake hands. Jamie Mulgrew, at the age of 39, is already the club's record appearance holder in European competition and he extends that sequence further tonight as he makes his 63rd appearance in continental competition. But he is almost a youngster in comparison to his counterpart Atli Gregersen, who skippers Vikingur at the age of 43! Update: Date: 18:55 BST Title: Linfield travel to the Faroes Content: Vikingur v Linfield (19:00 BST) Linfield will be feeling good following their 2-0 win against Zalgiris after the scoreless draw in the first leg in Lithuania. They will seek to build upon that when they take on Vikingur Gota from the Faroe Islands in round three of qualifying, but their opposition have had their moments in European qualifying in the past. Vikingur won a third league title in their history in 2024 to take their place in the Champions League qualifiers, but lost out to Gilbralter's Lincoln Red Imps which saw them drop into round three of the Conference League qualifiers. Last year, they beat Latvia's FK Liepaja over two legs in qualifying before bowing out against Belgium's Gent, while their best European run occurred in the 2014-15 season when beating Latvia's FC Daugava and Norway's Tromso before falling to HNK Rijeka of Croatia. Domestically, this season has not gone to plan as they currently sit in fourth place in the Faroe Islands Premier League, 19 points behind leaders Kl Klaksvik. The first leg takes place in Torshavn tonight with the return leg at Windsor Park next Thursday. The winner will move into a final play-off against the loser of the Europa League tie between Shelbourne and Croatia's HNK Rijeka. Update: Date: 18:51 BST Title: Thursday's Conference League Fixtures Content: Vikingur v Linfield (19:00 BST) A reminder of the kick-off times and venues for tonight's two Conference League fixtures involving Irish Premiership sides. Linfield's 2024-25 season in review

2024-25 League position: ChampionsPlayer of the season: Joel CooperAfter a two-year gap, Linfield regained the Gibson Cup. The Blues were comfortable winners in the end, becoming the first team to ever claim the league title before the end-of-season split and finishing 22 points clear of their nearest challengers. Having had to fend off interest from Scotland in their manager David Healy before enduring endless speculation about star forward Joel Cooper in January, the title charge was not without its stresses, but that never showed on the pitch where they were by far the league's most consistent side. The Blues will be aware that their 85 points was the same tally they amassed in 2023-24 when finishing runners-up to Larne and will be braced for a stronger set of challengers next loss of Cooper is a serious blow, but in January signings Kieran Offord and Callumn Morrison, they have already recruited some firepower with a view to filling the void. 2025-26 signings so far:2025-26 departures so far: Joel Cooper (Coleraine)
