GAA championship clash ordered to be replayed after scoreboard error
A club game in Cork is to be replayed due to a scoreboard error.
Aghada and Kildorrery have to do it all again in Co-op SuperStores IAHC Group 3, with the replay pencilled in for Saturday, August 30 at Páirc Uí Rinn (6.30pm). There will be free entry for supporters.
When the sides clashed in Caherlag in late July, a point in first half injury time for Aghada's William Leahy was wrongly attributed to Kildorrery and instead of Aghada trailing by 1-10 to 0-9 at the break, Kildorrery held a 1-11 to 0-8 lead.
Aghada stormed back into the game in the second half and a Fionn O'Connor goal and a late Leahy point saw his side draw level before the final whistle.
But Aghada were convinced they had won rather than taken a share of the spoils with the official score recorded as 1-22 to 2-19.
A Cork County Board Control Committee meeting this week discussed the issue and it was decided to void the original result and for the sides to play again.
Last year there was also a result voided due to a scoreboard error, when Kilbrittain's victory over Aghabullogue in the JBHC semi-final was scratched after an appeal and Aghabullogue won the replay.
