Conjoined Filipino twin sisters arrive in Riyadh for surgery on Saudi King's invitation
Gulf Today Report Under the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Filipino conjoined twin sisters, Klea and Maurice Ann arrived at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, accompanied by their family, SPA reported. Upon arrival, the twins were transferred to King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital at the Ministry of National Guard for medical assessment and to evaluate the possibility of performing a separation surgery. Adviser at the Royal Court, Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), and head of the medical and surgical team of the Saudi Conjoined Twins Programme Dr Abdullah Al Rabeeah expressed his deepest gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Crown Prince for this humanitarian initiative. He stated that the initiative embodies the noble values and firm principles of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in extending aid to those in need, affirming its global leadership in the humanitarian and medical fields. This, he noted, has helped establish the Kingdom's position as an advanced international medical reference. Dr Al Rabeeah also pointed out that the programme is one of the most prominent humanitarian models and a cornerstone of the global relief response, reflecting the Kingdom's principles of mercy and human solidarity without discrimination, in fulfillment of its noble mission to preserve human dignity regardless of color, race, or religion. The family of the Filipino twins expressed their deep gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince for their generous care and warm reception, as well as the comprehensive medical attention they received. They appreciated the vital role of the program and the efforts of the medical and surgical team to ensure the safety of their children. The Saudi Conjoined Twins Program has performed two successful separation surgeries on conjoined twins from the Republic of the Philippines over its 35-year history.

Riyadh airport emerges topper with a compliance rate of 90%: GACA
RIYADH — The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) issued on Saturday its April 2025 report on airport and national carrier compliance with flight schedules, naming King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh as the top performer in the first category of international airports handling over 15 million passengers annually. The Riyadh airport recorded a compliance rate of 90 percent. King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Abha International Airport, NEOM International Airport, Turaif Airport, and Wadi Al-Dawasir Airport are also among the top performers across five categories. The report evaluates performance based on flights departing or arriving within 15 minutes of their scheduled time, aiming to give travelers a clear view of how well airlines and airports adhere to schedules, while also supporting efforts to improve service quality and enhance the overall travel experience. In the second category of international airports handling between 5 million and 15 million passengers annually, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam took the top spot with 87 percent. In the third category of international airports with 2 million to 5 million passengers annually, Abha International Airport ranked first with a 91 percent compliance rate. NEOM International Airport led the fourth category, for international airports with fewer than 2 million passengers annually, achieving 95 percent compliance. In the fifth category of domestic airports, Turaif Airport and Wadi Al-Dawasir Airport both ranked first with a perfect 100 percent compliance rate. At the airline level, Saudia achieved an 89 percent on-time arrival rate and an 89 percent on-time departure rate. Flynas recorded 86 percent for arrivals and 91 percent for departures, while flyadeal posted 87 percent for arrivals and 91 percent for departures. Highlighting the top-performing domestic and international routes, the report showed that the Riyadh–Abha route achieved a 96 percent on-time performance among domestic flights, while the Riyadh–Amman route ranked first internationally with a 97 percent compliance rate. Air France launches direct flights between Paris and Saudi Arabia's Riyadh
Air France has launched new direct routes from Paris' Charles de Gaulle to Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport. The first flight, operated by an Airbus A350-900, touched down in the Saudi capital on May 20, according to local media reports. Air France's new Paris-Riyadh route is a strategic step in linking the two influential capitals, enhancing cultural exchange, expanding tourism prospects, and supporting economic cooperation. The Airbus A350-900 servicing the route is designed with 324 seats across three cabins—Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy. International traffic surges Air France's new Paris-Riyadh route comes as Saudi Arabia continues to witness surging demand for international connectivity. In 2024, airports across the Kingdom saw a record 128 million passengers. International flight passengers rose to over 69 million – up 14 percent – while domestic traffic exceeded 59 million passengers – a 16 percent jump from the previous year. Furthermore, King Abdulaziz International Airport was revealed as the busiest airport in Saudi Arabia, with around 49 million passengers coming through – a 14 per cent year-on-year increase.
