Man arrested after pedestrians shot in Toronto's west end: police
A 32-year-old man is facing multiple charges in connection with an incident in Toronto's west end last week where two people were shot by a man riding a motorcycle.
In a news release issued Thursday, police said the man was arrested on Tuesday and has been charged with four counts of attempted murder and two counts of aggravated assault, on top of various weapons charges.
The shooting happened at around 2:40 a.m. in the area of King Street W. and Sudbury Street, Toronto police previously said.
A group of friends were walking in the area when a man, who was driving a motorcycle at a high rate of speed, nearly struck the victims, police said in the news release.
The man then came up to the group and "yelled obscenities at them," police said.
When the victims tried to walk away, the accused waited for them at the end of a laneway, pulled out a firearm and fired several rounds at them before fleeing westbound on Sudbury Street, according to investigators.
A man and a woman, both in their 30s, suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital in critical condition.
