King Charles Welcomes Surprise Hollywood A-Listers to the Palace (& They're Friends of Harry & Meghan)
In recent weeks, King Charles has had the royal honor of welcoming quite a bit of star power (ranging from Kate Winslet to Meryl Streep) to Buckingham Palace—and last night was no exception. To celebrate the winners of The King's Trust Awards for 2025, His Majesty hosted one of Hollywood's most recognizable power couples: George Clooney and Amal pair looked stylish and chic as they chatted happily with the king at what looked to be a glamorous reception. George—who went tie-less—opted to wear a grey suit while Amal chose a black dress with an off-the-shoulder neckline. The celebration took place ahead of the annual King's Trust Award ceremony, which will take place tonight at the Royal Festival Hall. (The King's Trust, formerly known as the Prince's Trust before Charles became monarch, honors young people who have overcome challenges to improve their lives and positively impact their communities.)But here's what's interesting: George and Amal Clooney have famously had a longtime relationship with another set of royals, too. In 2018, they attended Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding at Windsor Castle. (George, who is co-founder of Casamigos, even helped bartend at the reception, supposedly.) The Clooneys also hosted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at their Lake Como villa the summer after they got hitched in 2019. At the time, ABC News reported that Harry played basketball with George while Meghan and Amal hung out by the pool and looked after the Clooneys' course, that's not to say that their friendship complicates connections they have with the palace. In fact, this isn't the first time the Clooneys have helped celebrate the work of the King's Trust—in 2019, they attended a dinner at Buckingham Palace, also with the king, in honor of the same cause. The short sleeves dress featured illusion bow details for an added touch of femininity to the relatively understated look. The dress featured a form-fitting silhouette, with a cinched waist for added definition. The hemline of the dress was at mid-length. Clooney added few pieces of jewelry to her attire, save for a delicate bracelet and shimmering ring. She also carried a clutch. Clooney's look at Wednesday's event was slightly reminiscent of her Cannes Film Festival dress. The archival John Galliano gown for Christian Dior also featured an off-the-shoulder neckline, not dissimilar from her pared-back attire at the King's Trust Awards reception. Off-the-shoulder and plunging necklines are a regular trend in Clooney's wardrobe. The neckline provides the ideal frame for the attorney's long, thick tresses, which were styled with inspiration from Old Hollywood star Rita Hayworth for the 2025 Tony Awards on June 8. 'Amal wore a beautiful, pearl-detailed Old Hollywood gown, and I wanted her hair to reflect that same timeless elegance. I was inspired by classic Rita Hayworth — soft, brushed-out waves with a glamorous and polished feel,' hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos exclusively told WWD of Clooney's 2025 Tony Awards glam, which was paired with a Tamara Ralph dress. In March 2019, the couple attended dinner at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the same charity that was known as the Prince's Trust before Charles ascended the throne, reports People. The couple were also guests at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's wedding in May 2018, where George reportedly showed off his bartending skills at the reception.

She wore a pearl-beaded Tamara Ralph Haute Couture gown. Just weeks earlier, she walked the Cannes Film Festival red carpet in an archival John Galliano for Dior design. In an interview with Gayle King in April, George shared that he and Amal 'are having a really great time in life.' He added, 'I feel so extraordinarily lucky to have met this incredible woman, and I feel as if I hit the jackpot. And there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think I'm the luckiest man in the world.'
