Chris Brown pictured leaving prison flanked by security after being granted bail

Singer Chris Brown has been pictured for the first time following his short stint inside an English prison. The Kiss Kiss hitmaker, 36, has been released on bail by a London court after being charged over an alleged "unprovoked attack" that is said to have taken place in 2023. Ahead of his departure from HMP Forrest Bank, Brown's team could be seen arriving ready to great the musician - with one crew member carrying a JD bag and a pair of white trainers, presumably for Brown. The 36-year-old musician - who has not been asked to enter a plea yet in the case - has been ordered to pay a £5 million security fee to Southwark Crown Court after Wednesday's (21.05.25) bail hearing, which he was not present for. Judge Tony Baumgartner confirmed the singer will be allowed to continue his world tour, with dates in the UK in June and July. The security fee - with £4 million paid immediately, and £1 million due in seven days - is a financial guarantee to ensure he returns to court next month. If Brown breaches bail conditions, he could be asked to forfeit the money. The Next To You singer is scheduled to appear in court on June 20, which falls between gigs at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, and London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. As laid out by the judge, the conditions of his bail means he must surrender his passport when he's not travelling on tour. He must also live at a specific address provided to the court, and not apply for travel documents, contact the alleged victim, or visit the Tape nightclub. Brown was arrested in the early hours of May 15 at Manchester's Lowry Hotel, after flying in for his Breezy Bowl XX tour. He was initially refused bail the following day, and was held in custody. He has been accused of causing grievous bodily harm to music producer Abraham Diaw by allegedly attacking him with a bottle in a London nightclub in 2023. He and his co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu - who performs as HoodyBaby - are set to appear in court next month. Manchester Magistrates' Court heard last week that Mr Diaw was standing at the bar of the Tape nightclub when he was struck several times with a bottle, and was then pursued to a separate area of the nightclub where he was punched and kicked repeatedly. District Judge Joanne Hirst told Brown the alleged offence was a matter "too serious" to be dealt with at her court as she sent the case to London's Southwark Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on June 13. Brown, wearing a black T-shirt and black Nike jogging bottoms, was flanked by two security guards in the dock. He confirmed his name was Christopher Maurice Brown, provided his date of birth and gave the Lowry Hotel as his address. Brown watched on intently as brief details of the case against him were outlined by prosecutor Hannah Nicholls. The singer's tour starts on June 8 in Amsterdam, followed by 10 UK dates including Manchester's Co-op Live arena on June 15, plus gigs in Birminigham and Glasgow. A case management hearing has been set for October 24.

Chris Brown tour at risk after he has bail denied in UK club attack case

Brown (36) appeared in Manchester Magistrates' Court to face one count of causing grievous bodily harm and was ordered held until his next hearing on June 13 in London – the same day he is due to take the stage in Frankfurt, Germany, on the third date of his world tour. Judge Joanne Hirst rejected Brown's bail request after prosecutor Hannah Nicholls said that the crime was 'extremely serious'. Brown was on tour in the UK in February 2023 when he launched an unprovoked attack on producer Abe Diaw, striking him several times with a bottle at the Tape nightclub in London, Nicholls said. Brown then chased Diaw and punched and kicked him in an attack caught on surveillance camera in front of a club full of people, she said. Defence attorney Grace Forbes argued that the American performer was not a flight risk and should be released. Brown was flanked by court officers in the dock. He confirmed his name and birth date, and said that his address was the local Lowry Hotel, where he was arrested early on Thursday and taken into custody. His case was transferred to Southwark Crown Court in London, where he is expected to enter a plea to the charge. Brown's representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Associated Press. Brown burst onto the music scene as a teenager in 2005 and has become a major star with notable songs such as Run It, Kiss Kiss and Without You. He won his first Grammy for best R&B album in 2011 for F.A.M.E. and then earned his second gold trophy in the same category for 11:11 (Deluxe) earlier this year. The singer is due to launch an international tour next month with artists Jhene Aiko, Summer Walker and Bryson Tiller, opening with a European leg on June 8 in Amsterdam. The Go Crazy singer is set to tour the UK in June and July, with dates Marlay Park in Dublin, Co-Op Live in Manchester and Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

Chris Brown's tour in question as UK judge orders him into custody

Grammy-winning singer Chris Brown's upcoming tour was thrown into question Friday as a British judge ordered him held in custody while facing allegations that he beat a music producer with a bottle in a London nightclub in 2023. Chris Brown arrested in Manchester, UK

Brown is known for hits like Kiss Kiss. PHOTO: FILE American R&B singer Chris Brown, the former boyfriend of superstar Rihanna, has been arrested and charged over an alleged assault at a London nightclub in 2023, police said, as per AFP. Brown, 36, is known for mid-2000s hits such as Kiss, Kiss and a litany of legal troubles including a felony conviction for assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. He was arrested again in the early hours of Thursday at a hotel in Manchester, the Metropolitan Police said. Brown was charged with "grievous bodily harm with intent" in relation to "an assault, which reportedly took place at a venue in Hanover Square in London" on February 19, 2023, the statement said. Brown allegedly attacked music producer Abe Diaw with a bottle at Tape nightclub in London's exclusive Mayfair district, The Sun daily reported. The singer, who began his career in the 2000s and has sold tens of millions of records worldwide, was touring the UK at the time. Brown reportedly flew into Manchester airport by private jet on Wednesday afternoon. He is due to embark on a world tour next month, including several scheduled dates in the UK in June and July. Police detained Brown early Thursday at the five-star Lowry Hotel in Manchester, according to media reports. The two-time Grammy winner rose to fame at a young age with his rich R&B voice and later rap, but his reputation was later tarnished by allegations of domestic violence and other abuse. He was convicted of having beaten Rihanna before the 2009 Grammy Awards, forcing the pop star to miss the annual gala. In 2012, Brown was involved in an altercation at a New York nightclub with members of hip hop star Drake's entourage, during which French basketball star Tony Parker suffered an eye injury after being hit by a thrown glass bottle. Two years later, he pleaded guilty to assaulting a fan in Washington.
