It's win or bust for Port Glasgow title hopes as Undertakers head for Rossvale

PORT Glasgow Juniors know it's win or bust if they're to take the West of Scotland GreenVersity Division Four title clash to the final day. Rossvale stand in the Undertakers' way on the penultimate weekend of the season and six points separate Tam Jamieson's side in second place and Knightswood at the top of the pile. It's the business end of the season where everything is on the line - and with the league leaders having played a game more than the Port, they could seal their crown without kicking a ball, meaning the margin for error is next to none. The Parklea outfit head to East Dunbartonshire looking to regain their shooting boots, despite being the league's top scorers by a considerable distance. Their 0-0 draw at Newmains last time out handed the advantage firmly to Knightswood, who moved to within a point of the title by winning 4-2 away to Eglinton. Tomorrow's trip to the Kirkintilloch Community Sports Complex is by no means a formality, with Rossvale earning widespread plaudits for their style of play. Whilst their promotion hopes are over, they will still be looking to end their season on a high with the likes of Kevin Docherty proving to be a thorn in the side of many WoSFL four sides for much of the campaign. These two last faced each other early on in the campaign, with Jamieson's side securing victory in a five-goal at Parklea, and he'll be looking for three points again this time around. Goals from Alex McWaters and Ronnie Wilson cancelled out efforts from Docherty and Brandon Fallon on the night. A win in the 'canal capital of Scotland' would leave them needing a favour from Eglinton on the final day and beating the league leaders whilst Port need to beat St Peter's at Parklea.

He now returns there, having registered a win from his only other run at the track, for a Class Two (2.40). Last season he placed twice off his current mark of 94 or higher. Willie Mullins has a strong hand in the bet365 Gold Cup (4.10 Sandown) but RESPLENDENT GREY (NAP) can provide Sean Bowen with a winner on the day he is crowned champion jockey for the first time. The form of the selection's second behind Handstands in a Grade Tw at the same venue last December has been boosted and he should stay on well with headgear applied. WIZARD OF ODDS - CHRIS BAKER 2.05 LEICESTER COMMANCHE FALLS did not win last season, but ran well in a number of decent sprint races. He was a Group Three and dual Listed winner in 2023 and can defy top weight today. 2.40 HAYDOCK GORAK is a horse that often races prominently, so his draw in stall one looks to be ideal. On top of that, he is a previous winner over today's course and distance. 6.05 RIPON VENTURE CAPITAL (NAP) ended last season in good form and was probably in need of the run when weakening out of contention on his reappearance at Pontefract earlier this month.
