Top Tennessee prospect and Notre Dame commit Chaston Smith transferring high schools One of Notre Dame's football commitments in the Class of 2026 is on the move ahead of the 2025 football season. Tennessee native Chaston Smith is transferring from McCallie to Knoxville Catholic for his senior season, according to Knoxville Catholic head coach Philip Shadowens. The three-star defensive back spent two years at Bearden prior to his junior year at McCallie. He is the No. 25 cornerback and No. 313 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and committed to Notre Dame last December while holding offers from Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, LSU and Vanderbilt among others. The move brings the 6-foot-1, 175-pounder closer to home, as his mother is an administrator for Knox County Schools and his brother serves as cornerbacks coach at Catholic. Smith played in just five games last season at McCallie due to injury, but he recorded five tackles, an interception and two pass breakups.

Mizzou WBB lands 3rd commit this week in FAU's Sydney Mains
After building out her new starting five, new Mizzou WBB coach Kellie Harper faced a different question; what would she do with the remaining six roster spots. Her first depth commit is close to home, in redshirt freshman Sydney Mains of FAU; originally from Knoxville, Tennessee. Advertisement Mains comes to the the team following assistant coach Jennifer Sullivan, who originally recruited and coached her during her freshman year. She saw good minutes in her first two games, averaging 12.5 minutes and 3 points. But her season was cut short after suffering an injury early in a game against North Florida. Injuries have been an issue for Mains, as she suffered a partial tear in her ACL, MCL and PCL early in her high school career at Knoxville Catholic. But that didn't stop her from being one of the best players in the area, tabbed as The Knoxville Focus / Coaches' Knox County Player of the Year while averaging 18.5 points. This scoring onslaught was persistent, as she finished her time at Knoxville Catholic with over 2,000 points while being coached by her dad and winning two state championships. Mains has a huge amount of potential if she can stay healthy and can provide some legitimate size on the wings. Mains is the fourth transfer portal commit of the Kellie Harper era, joining Shannon Dowell (Illinois State), Jordana Reisma (Cleveland State) and Saniya Tyler (Kentucky). Harper now has five remaining scholarship spots to fill out the rest of the roster. Up-to-date scholarship chart for Mizzou WBB. More from

Sydney Mains, a freshman guard who spent her rookie season with Florida Atlantic, announced Saturday that she is transferring to Missouri women's basketball. She is following new Mizzou assistant Jennifer Sullivan, who was the head coach at FAU before reconnecting with Harper as an assistant at MU. Advertisement Mains, listed at 5 foot 10, played just three games at FAU before a season-ending injury, meaning she is likely to retain four years of eligibility, assuming that she is approved for a medical waiver. Mains is a Knoxville, Tennessee, native, and played her high school basketball at Knoxville Catholic. She was a three-time Tennessee Miss Basketball finalist, won two state titles and scored 2,325 career points with 356 makes from 3-point range. Knoxville Catholic's Sydney Mains (24) is guarded by Knoxville Webb's Meeyah Green (24) in the TSSAA high school basketball Division II Class AA state championship on Saturday, March 2, 2024 in Cookeville, Tenn. Mains is the fourth player Mizzou has landed out of the portal since Harper took the helm, following Kentucky guard Saniah Tyler, Illinois State guard Shannon Dowell and Cleveland State forward Jordana Reisma.
