Andrey Kondratyev, deputy general director and chief designer at the Russian defense enterprise Kurganpribor, was attacked with a hammer in the city of Kurgan on May 22, the local outlet Oblast 45 reported. Large fire reported at oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar Krai following Ukrainian strike
Editor's note: This is a developing story and is being updated. A large fire covering over 1,000 square meters engulfed the Tuapse oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar Krai overnight on March 14, regional Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said on Telegram. Several explosions were heard by residents in the region around 5 a.m. local time. Videos posted on social media show a large fire burning in the location of the depot. Kondratyev later claimed on social media that the explosions were a results of an attack carried out by Kyiv. A gasoline storage tank is currently ablaze as over 100 emergency personnel are working to extinguish the blaze, Kondratyev added. The Kyiv Independent cannot verify claims made by the Russian official. Ukraine's military has not yet commented on the attack. 0:00 / 1× No information was immediately available as to the extent of the damage caused or whether there are any casualties. Ukraine has previously targeted the Tuapse oil refinery on numerous occasions, including in a strike as recently as Feb. 26. The Tuapse oil refinery, with an annual processing capacity of 12 million tons, is significant in supplying fuel to the Russian military. Kyiv has intensified strikes on Russian fossil fuel infrastructure, aiming to disrupt revenue sources funding Moscow's war effort. Ukraine regularly conducts deep strikes on military and industrial targets in Russia, predominantly using domestically developed drones. Fire reported at oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar Krai following 'massive' drone attack
Editor's note: This is a developing story and is being updated. A large fire reportedly erupted at the Ilsky oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar Krai overnight on Feb. 17 following large-scale Ukrainian drone attacks on the region, Russian Telegram media channels reported. Videos on social media by local residents purportedly show a large blaze at the refinery located in the Seversky district of the region. Residents reported hearing sounds of explosions around 1:30 a.m. local time. Regional Governor Veniamin Kondratyev claimed earlier in the evening that Ukrainian drones carried out a "massive attack" on the region, damaging 12 homes and injuring a woman — although Kondratyev made no mention of the attack on the refinery. The Kyiv Independent cannot verify claims made by Russian officials. Emergency crews are currently on-scene. No information was immediately available as to any casualties at the refinery or the extent of the damage. Ukraine considers Russian oil facilities to be valid military targets, as fossil fuel profits supply Moscow's war machine. The Ukrainian military has launched repeated attacks against Russian refineries with long-range drones. The purported attack follows just days after Ukraine's military attacked the Afipskiy oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai on Feb. 10. The attack targeted the key facility which processes 6.25 million tons of oil annually. Drone attack sparks blaze at oil depot in Russia's Krasnodar, governor says
A Ukrainian drone attack overnight sparked a fire at an oil depot in Russia's southern region of Krasnodar that has since been extinguished, regional officials said on Wednesday. A series of drone attacks by Ukraine on Russia's energy facilities have sparked fires in recent days at a major oil refinery in the Volgograd region, as well as at the Astrakhan gas processing plant. 'The fire in a tank with oil product residues in the village of Novominskaya in the Kanevsky District was fully extinguished,' the region's operational authorities said on the Telegram messaging app. Earlier, Veniamin Kondratyev, governor of the Krasnodar region, said that there were no injuries in the fire that was caused by a falling drone debris. A team of 19 people wielding 19 items of equipment were fighting the flames, he said. Kondratyev did not say which depot was on fire or detail the extent of damage. The Russian defense ministry said that four Ukrainian drones were destroyed over the Russian territory overnight, but did not mention the Krasnodar region in a statement on the Telegram messaging app. The ministry only reports drones that its air defense systems destroy, not how many were launched. There was no immediate comment from Ukraine. Kyiv says that its attacks inside Russia are aimed at destroying infrastructure key to Moscow's war in Ukraine and are in response to Russian continued bombing of Ukraine.
