Here's When Hyundai's Crazy Ioniq 6 N Gets To America

By signing up I agree to the Terms of Use and acknowledge that I have read the Privacy Policy . You may unsubscribe from email communication at anytime. Hyundai's hot sedan arrives roughly a year before BMW rival Revealed last week, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N will join the current Ioniq 5 N as two of the most exciting performance EVs on sale. While Hyundai revealed the car's outputs, styling, and long list of performance toys, it did not share the pricing or specific launch dates. Thanks to the Korean Car Blog, we can now answer at least one of those questions, as the publication has revealed the global launch timeline for the super sedan. Previous Pause Next Unmute 0:00 / 0:00 Full screen Ioniq 6 N Will Arrive In America After Korea And Europe The new Ioniq 6 N will launch in its domestic market, South Korea, as soon as September 2025. Before the end of the year, it'll reach showrooms in Europe, and it will finally reach the United States early in 2026. 'Early 2026' could mean anywhere in the first quarter, but we're hopeful that the sedan could get here as soon as January. Pricing is still unknown, but based on how much the Ioniq 5 N is (and the fact that equivalent Ioniq 6s are typically cheaper), we expect the Ioniq 6 N to start at around $60,000. That will place it close to the Tesla Model 3 Performance, which currently starts at $54,990 before the federal tax credit. However, since the tax credit will fall away before the Hyundai arrives here, the two rivals will be a lot closer in price. The Ioniq 6 N Won't Have Many Direct Rivals Most high-performance electric sedans are larger and far more expensive, such as the BMW i7 M70, the Tesla Model S Plaid, and the Porsche Taycan. Besides the Tesla Model 3 Performance, the other key rival for the Ioniq 6 N will be the forthcoming electric BMW M3, which has just been spied in production form for the first time. However, the BMW is only expected to go into production in March 2027, at least a year after the Hyundai arrives here. This electric Bimmer will reportedly make upwards of 700 horsepower, whereas the Hyundai produces 641 horses from its dual-motor setup. At Goodwood, we also spotted the Ioniq 6 N with Hyundai's performance parts. From a carbon fiber front splitter to a large rear wing with swan-neck struts, it looks brilliant. We look forward to a heated battle with Tesla in a few months time, followed by a fight with BMW's upcoming EV a year after that. Hyundai's Upcoming Sonata Takes Aim At Toyota Camry With Bold Updates

Hyundai's Upcoming Sonata Takes Aim At Toyota Camry With Bold Updates originally appeared on Autoblog. It's been over six years since the eighth-generation Hyundai Sonata was first revealed, and although a recent facelift has kept it fresh, the Korean marque will need an all-new model soon if it is to stay in contention with the newer Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. Now, thanks to a report by the Korean Car Blog, we have new information about what to expect from the next Sonata, and there will be much that's new. A new design philosophy, Hyundai's new infotainment operating system, and more efficient powertrains are all on the menu. Kia and Hyundai have consistently been on an apparent mission to push the design envelope, and not just on high-performance or more expensive models. Bold design is a significant part of Hyundai's successful transformation in the United States. The new Sonata is expected to share design cues with the latest Nexo, guided by the brand's Art of Steel design philosophy. This styling direction places an emphasis on strength, flexibility, and retro touches. NY Mammoth envisioned what this could look like, and the result is a Sonata with a strong shoulder line and rectangular-shaped headlights. A pixel-themed lighting signature is expected to add another flourish to the new sedan. The arrival of Hyundai's Pleos OS is expected with the launch of the Sonata, although we can't say what the cabin will look like (the new Nexo's interior is pictured below). The interface, which will include a 16:9 widescreen display, will be inspired by smartphones. Via the Pleos Playground, users will be able to download apps directly to the sedan. Gleo, Hyundai's own AI system, will integrate with support for Level 2.5 autonomous driving. If it all sounds overwhelmingly sci-fi, one interesting rumor is the use of detachable physical buttons. As long as it's not as clunky as removing the radio face, as was the case in the 1980s and 1990s, this could be a clever alternative to an overabundance of touch-based controls in modern cars. Overall, though, it sounds like a more tech-forward interior than the Toyota Camry's. Yes, the Camry has taken a big step up, but it's still user-friendly in a typically Toyota way. The latest Camry marked a huge departure from previous models, since all versions of the Japanese sedan have hybrid power. The Sonata isn't expected to go the same route, which means we can still expect a base 2.5-liter gas engine. A more powerful N Line and an available hybrid should also carry over to the new Sonata. Front-wheel drive should be standard, with an all-wheel-drive system being optional. For the latter, Hyundai's H-Trac AWD system could be implemented. One area of improvement we would like to see is a more refined ride/handling balance, as the Hyundai currently falls short of its Japanese competitors in this area. And, with the Camry's latest advancements in hybridization, we hope to see a smoother transition between gas and electric power in the new Sonata hybrid. The new Sonata should help Hyundai retain its edge over Kia in USA sales. Genesis to tackle electric, plug-in hybrid BMW, Benz SUVs with new range-extender

The mid-size luxury SUV segment includes everything from hybrids to plug-in hybrids and fully electric vehicles, and now Genesis is about to throw in another type of electrification. The Korean luxury marque is set to launch an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) version of its GV70 , which Korean Car Blog reports will debut in December 2026. It'll reportedly use a modified version of the E-GMP platform underpinning dedicated electric vehicles (EVs) within the Hyundai Motor Group such as the Genesis GV60 and Kia EV9 . Hundreds of new car deals are available through CarExpert right now. Get the experts on your side and score a great deal. Browse now . EREV technology has become increasingly popular in China, employed by auto brands like Deepal and Leapmotor, but hasn't been employed by many brands outside of that market. Like plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), EREVs typically feature a battery much larger than a traditional hybrid but usually smaller than a traditional EV's. A petrol engine acts as a generator to recharge the battery when needed, though you can still charge an EREV as you would a PHEV or EV. Unlike a PHEV, however, an EREV's combustion engine doesn't directly drive the wheels. Hyundai Motor Group's upcoming EREVs – set to also include an SUV for the Hyundai brand – will offer a claimed combined range of over 900km when fully charged, while offering an 'EV-like driving experience'. A previous Korean Car Blog report said the GV70 EREV would use a 40kWh battery pack and offer more than 200km of electric range. Genesis announced last year that it would roll out what it referred to as hybrid vehicles, despite previously indicating it would skip past these powertrain types to pure electric vehicles ahead of a targeted EV-only date of 2030. 'Five years back we anticipated that the EV era would arrive very quickly, and we really wanted to be a leader and a disruptor in the EV space,' said Genesis global boss Mike Song. 'Electrification is still our vision. We will have 100 per cent electrified vehicles, but the market and the customers now want hybrid more than EV, so we really want to bring Genesis hybrid into the market as soon as possible. 'We will apply it to as many models as possible.' In addition to EREVs, Genesis is also reportedly rolling out a more traditional hybrid powertrain – its new turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder system – to the G80 and GV80 . Genesis Australia has confirmed it wants to offer hybrid models to the local lineup as soon as they're available. Globally, Genesis has never offered hybrids, PHEVs or EREVs, but it offers a range of EVs. These include the GV60, which employs the dedicated E-GMP platform, but also the Electrified GV70 and Electrified G80, which are based on combustion-powered vehicles. The Electrified GV70 battles the likes of the Audi Q6 e-tron , BMW iX3 and Lexus RZ , while the upcoming EREV version will have no direct competitors in the Australian market – though there are mid-size luxury PHEV SUVs like the Audi Q5 and Lexus NX .
