Panama City Police: Woman, 20, charged with attempted murder after brick/gun ambush
PANAMA CITY — A Panama City woman was arrested on a charge of attempted murder after an ambush encounter that began at the intersection of 14th Street and Mercedes Avenue on June 15, according to an arrest affidavit filed by the Panama City Police Department.
The defendant has been identified as 20-year old Krista Brashanti Moneymaker. The victim is a 19-year-old woman.
According to the affidavit, which is on file with the Bay County court clerk, Moneymaker convinced the victim to meet her at midnight by contacting her through a fake Facebook account. The affidavit says the women have been engaged in an ongoing dispute.
Moneymaker claimed to be unable to find the victim's house. She asked the victim to walk to the nearest intersection and drop a pin showing her location.
Moneymaker jumped out of the bushes and threw a brick at the victim's face when she approached the intersection. As the victim was running back to her home, Moneymaker fired her gun at the victim three times, but missed all three times, according to the affidavit.
The victim returned home uninjured and called law enforcement.
Moneymaker has been arrested on charges of attempted murder and discharging a firearm in public/residential property. Arraignment is set for July 17, according to the court clerk's website.
