Nominations sought for Italian Fest 2025 Man and Woman of the Year
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The 2025 Greater Youngstown Italian Fest will be back this summer after a hiatus last year, and your help is needed in finding the '2025 Man and Woman of the Year.' Nominations are now being accepted for anyone you feel deserves the honor. You just need to submit their name and a few paragraphs about them and their heritage. Entires should include a name, birth date and birth location. You could also include a spouse's name, grandparents, sisters, brothers and things like a favorite pastime, hobbies and accomplishments. The festival runs August 1-3 in downtown Youngstown. The winners will be introduced on opening day on the main stage, Friday, August 1 at 6 p.m. Please submit your application or personal essay with photos to: John R. Cortland firefighters rescue ducklings from storm drain
CORTLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – Firefighters in Cortland helped rescue several ducklings Friday morning. Read next: Friday's Guardians-Reds game moved up due to weather The Cortland Fire Department helped the maintenance department from Lake Vista with the rescue. OVI checkpoint planned Thursday night
CHAMPION, Ohio (WKBN) — The Champion Police Department announced an OVI checkpoint is planned for Thursday night. In a Facebook post, the department said an OVI checkpoint will take place on Mahoning Avenue in Champion Township from 6 to 10 p.m. The checkpoint, funded by federal grants, aims to deter impaired driving. New ice cream shop coming to Canfield
CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) — A new ice cream shop is coming to the Mahoning Valley. According to a Facebook post by Platz Realty Group, a new Cockeye Creamery location will be going in the Village Square Shopping Center on North Broad Street in Canfield. The ice cream shop also has a location in Warren. The group said that there are still retail spaces available in the center, which is beer, wine and liquor approved.
