Nagpur: The Nagpur Cultural Society (NCS) treated its members to a riveting theatrical experience on August 10 at Persistent Hall with the staging of 'Dhumrapaan', a Hindi comedy play by Mumbai-based theatre group D For Drama.
Written by Adhir Bhatt and directed by Akarsh Khurana — known for his work in Krrishh and Tripling — the play featured noted Bollywood actors
Kumud Mishra
(Rockstar, Mulk, Article 15, MS Dhoni) and Shubhrajyoti Barat (Mirzapur, Article 15), along with Ghanshyam Lalsa, Siddharth Kumar, Sartakh Kakar, Abhishek Saha, and Kirti Soni. The music was composed and performed live by Rajat Tiwari.
A sharp yet humorous take on the corporate rat race, Dhumrapaan is set in the smoking zone of an office building over the course of a week.
The narrative revolves around a group of employees who, while discussing appraisals, politics, and relationships, also grapple with their stress, fears, and insecurities. Blending wit with subtle social commentary, the play leaves audiences laughing while reflecting on the realities of modern capitalism.
Speaking on the occasion, Rina Sinha, President of NCS, said, "NCS is committed to offering wholesome entertainment to our members across genres like dance, music, and drama, nurturing both local and national talent." She also acknowledged the efforts of theatre director Vikash Khurana of Stagecraft for facilitating the staging of Dhumrapaan in Nagpur.
