Indonesian man held over suspicious entry stamps
PUTRAJAYA: An Indonesian man was detained on Saturday afternoon after being found with suspicious security stamps during immigration checks at the departure hall of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1. Initial investigations revealed that he had entered Malaysia via the Pasir Gudang entry point in Johor on July 18, 2022, and was recorded as having left the country through KLIA on Aug 13, 2022. 'However, several entry and exit security stamps bearing his name from 2022 to 2025 raised doubts,' said the Malaysian Checkpoints and Border Agency yesterday, Bernama reported. Further checks through the system found no official records of the man's movements in or out of Malaysia during that period. He later admitted to investigators that he had never left Malaysia since 2022 and had paid RM4,000 to obtain the fake stamps. The agency said the case pointed to possible involvement in a 'flying' syndicate, a term used for fraudulent immigration stamping. Further investigations will be carried out to identify those behind the activity and to pursue disciplinary action and criminal charges.

Give me space to focus on haj, says Zafrul
SEPANG: Days after resigning from Umno, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz (pic) is requesting 'space' from the public, as he will be performing haj. 'I'm requesting that I be given space to focus on my haj pilgrimage, and I also request prayers for myself, my wife and my family there. 'I would like to apologise to all if I have offended anyone. God willing, I will pray for the prosperity of the nation and the betterment of all Malaysians when I am at the Holy Land,' said Tengku Zafrul when met by reporters at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport yesterday. Tengku Zafrul declined to comment on calls for him to resign as Investment, Trade and Industry Minister. 'No comment. I want to focus on haj and my family. I will leave this to the Prime Minister,' he said. Tengku Zafrul also reiterated that he had thought deeply about his decision to resign, and he was not forced by anyone to do so. 'Thank you once again to the Umno president and all Umno members who have supported me during my time in the party,' he added. Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Akmal Saleh had said Tengku Zafrul should resign as minister following his departure from Umno. On Friday, Tengku Zafrul said he was resigning as Umno supreme council member, Kota Raja division leader and as a party member. He also said he would apply to join PKR as a member. Tengku Zafrul had quit as Selangor Umno treasurer in April last year, and speculation has been rife since last year that he would leave and join PKR.
