District police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the operation, held from 4pm on Sunday until 1am on Monday around the Masja (Baitulmakmur) area here, saw five males aged between 14 and 20 arrested on suspicion of committing offences under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987. 'Five motorcycles were also seized under Section 60 of the same Act for being modified from their original structure and for further inspection. 'Throughout the operation, 36 individuals and 36 motorcycles were checked, while 53 summonses were issued for various traffic offences,' he said in a statement today. Alexson added that such operations will continue to be conducted periodically, while advising road users to drive responsibly, avoid involvement in street gangster activities, and refrain from making illegal modifications to their vehicles. KUCHING (Aug 13): A total of 78 illegal immigrants, including four children, and one local man were detained during an integrated Op Sekat operation against illegal immigrants conducted by Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD Kuching) on Aug 12. The eight-hour operation, which ran from 10pm to 6am, involved 215 personnel, comprising 30 officers and 185 members from IPD Kuching, the 11th Battalion of the General Operations Force (PGA) Batu Kawa, the Immigration Department, and the National Registration Department. Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said those detained ranged in age from nine months to 56 years. 'In this operation, a total of 78 illegal immigrants and one local man were detained. Their ages ranged from nine months to 56 years. The gender breakdown is 59 adult men, 15 adult women, one boy, and three girls. In terms of nationality, 62 were Indonesians and 16 were Bangladeshis. 'In this operation, 67 illegal immigrants were found to have committed offences under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. 'The local man tested positive for drugs under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,' he said in a statement today. The operation targeted areas identified as hotspots for illegal immigrants, including industrial zones, construction sites, and squatter settlements. Alexson said the coordinated effort aimed to detect, detain, and take legal action against illegal immigrants, as well as to strengthen security and ensure socio-economic sustainability for Malaysians. KUCHING (July 3): A 24-year-old local man was arrested early this morning for suspected drug trafficking during a raid at a commercial centre at Jalan Green here. Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the operation was carried out by a team from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD Kuching) at around 1.10am. He added that the raid led to the seizure of 7,450g suspected to be cannabis, estimated to be worth RM23,095 on the market. 'The suspect has no prior criminal record, and an initial urine test returned negative for drug use,' he said. Alexson said the suspect has been remanded for five days until July 7, to facilitate investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act (DDA) 1952, which provides for a death sentence or life imprisonment and not less than 12 strokes of whipping if not sentenced to death. In an official post on its Facebook page, the Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD Kuching) stated that the incident occurred on May 22 at approximately 3.10pm in front of the parking area near the Kuching Immigration Office. The suspects were later detained the following day in the areas of Gita, Tabuan Jaya, and Matang. They are aged between their 20s and 30s, with several having prior criminal records. 'Items seized include two motorcycles and a mobile phone belonging to one of the suspects. 'Preliminary interrogation revealed that all suspects admitted to committing the offence of splashing paint on the complainant's vehicle while riding two motorcycles bearing false registration plates,' the post read. The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for an act of mischief involving damage to a vehicle. According to an official statement by the Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD Kuching) via its Facebook page, the incident came to light on May 14, at approximately 6.15am, when the victim informed one of her parents that she had been raped by her uncle, the parent's own brother, at around 2am on April 4. The suspect, a local man, was eventually arrested by officers from the IPD Kuching Criminal Investigation Department in the Santubong area, shortly after the complainant lodged a police report at the Santubong Police Station on May 29 at around 4.43pm. 'The suspect has several prior criminal records. During initial questioning, he admitted to raping his underage niece,' the post stated.
