Temporary road closures in Kuching for parade preparations

KUCHING (Aug 6): Several roads surrounding Padang Merdeka here are being closed in stages, starting today, to facilitate the preparations for the Kuching Street Parade 2025.
In a statement yesterday, Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) said Jalan McDougall and Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg would be partially closed to allow setting-up of canopies and stage installations for the event, scheduled to take place this Aug 16 – running from 6pm to 11pm.
The road closure timeline comprises:
· Aug 6 to 11 – for site preparation works
· Aug 12 to 15 – for parade rehearsals
· Aug 16 – Parade Day
· Aug 17 to 19 – for site maintenance and clean-up
DBKU advised road users to plan their travel ahead of time and use alternative routes during the period to avoid congestion and delays.
