Road closures to begin this evening for Kuching Street Parade 2025, rehearsals
Handout shows the roads that will be closed for the parade. KUCHING (Aug 12): Several roads will close temporarily every evening from today until Saturday for the Kuching Street Parade 2025. Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) said this evening (Aug 12), Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg will be closed from 7pm for the first rehearsal until completion. Tomorrow and Thursday (Aug 13-14), Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, Jalan Main Bazaar, Jalan Wayang, Jalan Temple, and Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman will be closed from 6pm until completion. DBKU said on the day of the parade, road closures will begin at 4pm and remain in effect until the parade concludes. 'The affected areas include Bulatan Sri Aman and its exit to Jalan Padungan, the access route to Bulatan Sri Aman from Jalan Ban Hock, Jalan Abell Utara, and the traffic light junctions at Jalan Abell and Jalan Petanak, as well as Jalan Sungai Padungan and the traffic lights at Jalan Padungan. 'Additional closures will impact the access to Jalan Chan Chin Ann from Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Song Thian Cheok, the traffic lights at Jalan Bukit Mata, Jalan Borneo, and the junction at Jalan Lebuh Wayang and Jalan Main Bazaar. 'Roads near SK St Mary, including Jalan Temple, Jalan Lebuh Wayang, and Jalan Wawasan, will also be closed. Access to Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg from Jalan Main Bazaar and Jalan Satok, particularly near the RTM traffic lights, will be restricted, along with Jalan McDougall,' DBKU said in a statement. In light of these closures, DBKU advised all road users to plan their journeys ahead of time and to use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion. Temporary road closures in Kuching for parade preparations

In a statement yesterday, Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) said Jalan McDougall and Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg would be partially closed to allow setting-up of canopies and stage installations for the event, scheduled to take place this Aug 16 – running from 6pm to 11pm. The road closure timeline comprises: · Aug 6 to 11 – for site preparation works · Aug 12 to 15 – for parade rehearsals · Aug 16 – Parade Day · Aug 17 to 19 – for site maintenance and clean-up DBKU advised road users to plan their travel ahead of time and use alternative routes during the period to avoid congestion and delays.
