The victim, identified as Mohd Azman Idris, 31, is believed to have fallen while reconnecting a broken anchor rope in rough seas. Kudat Fire and Rescue Station chief Darickson Galanang said 12 personnel, led by Rasidi Sadai, rushed 39km to the scene with a fire engine, EMRS unit and utility vehicle following a distress call at 4.46pm. According to Darickson, two co-workers — Muhammad Haseef Abdul Rahman, 29, and Aidil Adman Said, 49 — jumped in to rescue Azman but were unable to return to the vessel due to strong waves before all three were later pulled to shore by rescuers. Medical personnel confirmed Azman's death at the scene, while the two survivors received initial treatment before the victim's body was handed to police for further action. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
