Boston Celtics jersey history No. 21 - Frank Kudelka (1951)
Boston Celtics jersey history No. 21 - Frank Kudelka (1951) The Boston Celtics have had players suiting up in a total of 68 different jersey numbers (and have three others not part of any numerical series) since their founding at the dawn of the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- the league that would become today's NBA), worn by well over 500 players in the course of Celtics history. To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Celtics Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. With 25 of those jerseys now retired to honor some of the greatest Celtics to wear those jerseys, there is a lot of history to cover. And for today's article, we will continue with the third of nine people to wear the No. 21, Boston wing alum Frank Kudelka. After ending his college career at St. Mary's, Kudelka would join the (defunct) Chicago Stags in 1949. The San Francisco, California native was picked up by the (also defunct) Washington Capitols after the Stags went under, and Boston did the same for Kudelka later that season when the Caps folded. His stay with the team would span just 27 games before he was traded to the (you guessed it, defunct) Baltimore Bullets in 1951. During his time suiting up for the Celtics, Kudelka wore only jersey No. 21 and put up 4.7 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. All stats and data courtesy of Basketball Reference.

Golden State Warriors jersey history - No. 14 - Frank Kudelka (1952-53)
Golden State Warriors jersey history - No. 14 - Frank Kudelka (1952-53) The Golden State Warriors have had over 600 players don the more than 60 jersey numbers used by their players over the more than 75 years of existence the team has enjoyed in its rich and storied history. Founded in 1946 during the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- a precursor league of the NBA) era, the team has called home the cities of Philadelphia, San Francisco, Oakland, and even San Diego. To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Warriors Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. For this article, we begin with the sixth of 13 players who wore the No. 14 jersey for the Warriors. That player would be Golden State wing alum Frank Kudelka. After ending his college career at Saint Mary's, Kudelka joined the (defunct) Chicago Stags in 1949. The San Francisco, California native also played for (defunct) Washington Capitols, Boston Celtics, and (defunct) Baltimore Bullets before his contract was sold to the (then) Philadelphia (now, Golden State) Warriors for the final two seasons of his NBA career. During his time suiting up for the Warriors, Kudelka wore only jersey No. 14 and put up 4.2 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. All stats and data courtesy of Basketball Reference.
