Ex-MMA fighter avoids jail time after crashing vehicle into Langley RCMP detachment
Abbotsford ex-MMA fighter Kultar Singh Gill is due to be sentenced in a 2023 crash that involved a vehicle being crashed into an RCMP building in Langley. Loading the player instance is taking more time than usual Loading the player instance is taking more time than usual A former mixed martial arts fighter from Abbotsford has received a conditional sentence after crashing a vehicle into an RCMP community policing centre in Langley nearly two years ago. Kultar Singh Gill, known in the MMA world as 'Black Mamba,' pleaded guilty to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm. He was handed a conditional sentence of two years less a day, to be served in the community. The crash happened on the evening of Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023. Video posted to social media shows a vehicle speeding along Fraser Highway in Langley's Aldergrove neighbourhood, crossing a concrete median. A woman's legs appear to be hanging from the vehicle before it crashes into the Aldergrove community policing centre. According to an agreed statement of facts, Gill had consumed alcohol and cocaine in the hours leading up to the incident. He forced his way into the driver's seat, causing the woman's legs to dangle from the vehicle. The court heard he drove for four kilometres before crashing. The woman sustained extensive injuries to her legs. Gill fled the scene on foot and was arrested nearby. He spent 123 days in pre-trial custody before being released on bail. He was originally facing additional charges, including aggravated assault and two counts of failing to stop. Those charges were stayed. Court records show the case was classified as a 'K' file by the B.C. Prosecution Service — a designation used when the accused and victim have had a close, personal or intimate relationship. Gill previously ran a martial arts academy in Abbotsford. Under the terms of his sentence, he will remain under house arrest for six months, with exceptions for work and medical appointments. After that, he will be subject to a nightly curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. He was also given a one-year driving ban.

Abbotsford ex-MMA fighter to be sentenced in crash into Langley RCMP building
Kultar Singh Gill, an ex-MMA fighter from Abbotsford, is due to be sentenced for a 2023 crash that saw a car driven into a RCMP building in Langley. A former Abbotsford mixed martial arts fighter, who crashed a vehicle into a RCMP building in Langley, B.C. nearly two years ago, will soon learn his fate. Kultar Singh Gill has already pleaded guilty to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm. Gill will be sentenced Wednesday. The disturbing crash happened the evening of Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023. In a video posted to social media, a driver on Fraser Highway in Langley's Aldergrove is shown speeding through a concrete median. A woman's legs can be seenbeing dragged outside the vehicle before it crashes into the Aldergrove community policing centre. Police initially told CTV News the victim's injuries were not life threatening, but did not provide an update on their condition. The suspect, who Mounties say fled on foot, was arrested nearby and taken into custody. At the time, police said 'witness information has determined the incident may have begun further east on Fraser Highway,' but have not released any additional information on what unfolded prior to the recorded crash. Gill plead guilty to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm in April and faced other charges of aggravated assault and two counts of failure to stop. Those charges are expected to be stayed at sentencing. The court file is a 'K' file, a designation the BC Prosecution Service uses for crimes in which the investigation reveals the victim and accused are or have been in an 'ongoing close and personal or intimate relationship.' Gill, also known as 'Black Mamba' in the martial arts world, runs his own academy in Abbotsford. Dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm is considered a hybrid offence, meaning the Crown can elect to proceed by summary conviction or by indictment. If it chooses a summary conviction, the maximum punishment is a fine of up to $5000 or two years less a day in prison, or both. If Gill is indicted, the maximum punishment is ten years behind bars.
