Abbotsford ex-MMA fighter to be sentenced in crash into Langley RCMP building
Kultar Singh Gill, an ex-MMA fighter from Abbotsford, is due to be sentenced for a 2023 crash that saw a car driven into a RCMP building in Langley.
A former Abbotsford mixed martial arts fighter, who crashed a vehicle into a RCMP building in Langley, B.C. nearly two years ago, will soon learn his fate.
Kultar Singh Gill has already pleaded guilty to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.
Gill will be sentenced Wednesday.
The disturbing crash happened the evening of Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023.
In a video posted to social media, a driver on Fraser Highway in Langley's Aldergrove is shown speeding through a concrete median. A woman's legs can be seenbeing dragged outside the vehicle before it crashes into the Aldergrove community policing centre.
Police initially told CTV News the victim's injuries were not life threatening, but did not provide an update on their condition.
The suspect, who Mounties say fled on foot, was arrested nearby and taken into custody.
At the time, police said 'witness information has determined the incident may have begun further east on Fraser Highway,' but have not released any additional information on what unfolded prior to the recorded crash.
Gill plead guilty to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm in April and faced other charges of aggravated assault and two counts of failure to stop.
Those charges are expected to be stayed at sentencing.
The court file is a 'K' file, a designation the BC Prosecution Service uses for crimes in which the investigation reveals the victim and accused are or have been in an 'ongoing close and personal or intimate relationship.'
Gill, also known as 'Black Mamba' in the martial arts world, runs his own academy in Abbotsford.
Dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm is considered a hybrid offence, meaning the Crown can elect to proceed by summary conviction or by indictment. If it chooses a summary conviction, the maximum punishment is a fine of up to $5000 or two years less a day in prison, or both.
If Gill is indicted, the maximum punishment is ten years behind bars.
