Over 1,000 youth join Kuwait Shooting Club's summer program

KUWAIT: The Kuwait Shooting Club's summer training program aims to discover and nurture young talent while equipping youth with essential shooting skills, said Club President Duaij Al-Otaibi. Speaking to KUNA, Al-Otaibi revealed that more than 1,000 young participants have enrolled in the two-month course, which includes training in Olympic shooting disciplines such as shotgun, rifle and archery. The program, organized in cooperation with the Public Authority for Sport (PAS), is held at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex and conducted under the supervision of internationally accredited coaches. Al-Otaibi stressed that the initiative aligns with the club's strategy to broaden the sport's base in Kuwait and make constructive use of students' summer break. He expressed appreciation to the Public Authority for Sport, particularly Acting Director General Bashar Abdullah, for their continued support and efforts in ensuring the success of the program. Praising the high level of commitment and promising performance demonstrated by the young participants, Al-Otaibi expressed optimism about the future of shooting sports in Kuwait. KUWAIT CITY, July 16, (KUNA): President of the Kuwait Shooting Club, Duaij Al-Otaibi, affirmed that the club's organization of a training course at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Range, in cooperation with the Public Authority for Sports, aligns with its strategic goal of expanding the shooting community and identifying promising Kuwaiti talents. Speaking to KUNA yesterday, Al-Otaibi revealed that the course will host more than 1,000 male and female participants, covering all Olympic shooting disciplines — shotgun, rifle, and Olympic archery. The two-month program aims to develop participants' skills using the latest training methodologies under the supervision of internationally accredited coaches. Al-Otaibi highlighted the importance of collaboration with the Public Authority for Sports, emphasizing the club's commitment to supporting youth passionate about the sport by helping them improve their technical abilities and productively utilizing their time during the summer break. He commended the Authority — particularly acting Director General Bashar Abdullah and his deputies — for their support in facilitating the program's success. KUWAIT CITY, April 17, (KUNA): Kuwaiti marksmen Yousef Al-Rashidi and Abdulrahman Al-Faihan captured the gold and silver medals, respectively, in the men's trap shooting competition on Thursday at the His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah International Grand Shooting Championship. The prestigious tournament, currently taking place in Kuwait, features around 220 elite male and female shooters representing 18 Arab and international nations. With this win, Kuwait's total medal tally at the championship now stands at three. In a thrilling final, Al-Rashidi secured the gold medal, while his compatriot Al-Faihan earned silver. Italy's Fabio Solami completed the podium with bronze. In the women's trap event, Italy's Fiammetta Rossi took gold, followed by Poland's Sandra Bernal with silver and Italy's Gia Ragazzini with bronze. The medalists were honored in an official ceremony attended by Sheikh Sabah Bader Al-Sabah, Governor of Mubarak Al-Kabeer, and Championship Chairman Duaij Al-Otaibi, alongside several officials and delegation leaders. Chairman Al-Otaibi praised the outstanding performances of Al-Rashidi and Al-Faihan, noting that their success is a testament to the high caliber of Kuwaiti shooters.
