Rockies tie it on Arcia's homer in ninth, beat Brewers 4-3 in 11

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Orlando Arcia hit a tying home run with two outs in the ninth inning, Kyle Farmer drove in the go-ahead run with a single in the 11th and the Colorado Rockies beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 on Sunday. Arcia's solo shot off Brewers closer Trevor Megill that tied it at 2 was just his second of the season. Victor Vodnik (3-2) pitched the 10th for the win. Tyler Kinley struck out pinch-hitter Jake Bauers and Isaac Collins before retiring Caleb Durbin on a flyout to end it. Farmer singled off Grant Anderson (1-3) to score automatic runner Brenton Doyle as the Rockies rallied with a run in each of the last four innings after they were shut out in the previous 16. Sal Frelick and Christian Yelich homered in the sixth inning off Colorado starter Germán Márquez for a 2-0 lead. It was the 18th homer for Yelich and the fifth for Frelick. Ryan McMahon reached on a two-out, two-base throwing error by shortstop Joey Ortiz and Doyle doubled to cut it to 2-1 in the eighth. Brewers rookie Chad Patrick allowed four hits and fanned eight in five scoreless innings. Megill allowed the tying homer and then surrendered Thairo Estrada's RBI single in the 10th. The Brewers scored on Vodnik's wild pitch to send it to the 11th. Colorado (19-65), which had outfielder Tyler Freeman and interim manager Warren Schaeffer ejected in the third inning, snapped a five-game slide. Milwaukee (47-37) had a four-game win streak end. Key moment Vodnik had runners on the corners in the 10th after a double-play grounder by Yelich was overturned on review. He retired William Contreras on a shallow fly to right before striking out Turang to keep it 3-3. Key stat Eleven of Colorado's 19 wins this season have come on the road. Up next The Brewers begin a six-game road trip Tuesday with Freddy Peralta (8-4, 2.90 ERA) starting the opener against Mets RHP Clay Holmes (8-4, 2.97). The Rockies haven't announced a starter for Tuesday when they host the Astros, who will start LHP Colton Gordon (3-1, 3.98). ___ AP MLB:

Rockies tie game in ninth, beat Brewers in 11 innings

June 29 - Kyle Farmer's RBI single in the 11th inning lifted the Colorado Rockies to a 4-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday that also snapped the visiting club's five-game losing streak. Colorado trailed 2-0 after six innings but plated one run in each of the last four frames to notch its 13th comeback victory of the season. The Rockies were down to their last out in the ninth when Orlando Arcia homered to left-center field off Brewers closer Trevor Megill. Farmer, who entered as a pinch hitter in the seventh, went 2-for-3 and got the game-winning single off Grant Anderson (1-3). Thairo Estrada went 3-for-5 with an RBI single in the 10th inning. Victor Vodnik's wild pitch allowed Joey Ortiz, the Brewers automatic runner, to score from third and tie the game 3-3 in the 10th. However, Vodnik (3-2) settled down, and with Sal Frelick on third and one out, got William Contreras on a shallow flyout and struck out Brice Turang to extend the game. Tyler Kinley struck out two in a perfect 11th inning to earn his third save of the season. Frelick went 3-for-5 and gave the Brewers a 1-0 lead with a one-out home run in the sixth inning. One batter later, Christian Yelich extended his hitting streak to 12 games with another solo shot. At that point, it looked like the Brewers would win their fifth straight, and the Rockies would suffer their sixth consecutive loss. However, Colorado's Ryan McMahon reached in the eighth on an error by shortstop Ortiz and advanced to second. He scored on Brenton Doyle's double, a rocket to center. The late theatrics took away from a couple of sharp pitching performances by the day's starters. The Brewers' Chad Patrick struck out eight over five innings. The Rockies had a runner on third base three times against him, but the rookie right-hander, who scattered four hits and a pair of walks, prevented them from crossing the plate. German Marquez held the Brewers to just one hit over the first five innings and had retired nine in a row before giving up the homers in the sixth. He struck out five in 5-2/3 innings while giving up three hits and three walks. --Field Level Media

Rockies Have Worst MLB Record in 125 Years, Set Team Record For Ks

Rockies Have Worst MLB Record in 125 Years, Set Team Record For Ks originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The 2025 Colorado Rockies are so bad, they're practically setting new records for futility every week. Advertisement On Saturday, after losing 4-1 to the Atlanta Braves, the Rockies carried a 13-57 record. No team in MLB history has had fewer wins in the last 125 years. The 1899 Cleveland Spiders had the same record at the same point that season. The next worst team in the majors this year was last year's worst team: the Chicago White Sox. But the White Sox are 10 games better than the Rockies in 2025, with a 23-48 record. Besides the loss, the Rockies on-the-field were specifically bad against the Braves. Colorado struck out 19 times, a franchise record for a nine-inning game. It was also a franchise record for the Braves in a nine-inning game. Colorado Rockies pitcher Chase Dollander pitches the ball against the Atlanta Braves during the first inning at Truist Godfree-Imagn Images Spencer Strider recorded 13 strikeouts over his six innings while Rafael Montero and Dylan Lee combined for another six in the final three frames. Advertisement Kyle Farmer, one of the most senior Rockies players, is 34 and been in the league nine seasons. He's on the back end of his career, but said he is attempting to use the Rockies' struggles as teaching tool for the younger players. "Keeping their heads up and they've got to show up each day and play, no matter our record," Farmer said. "It's your job, and you worked your whole life to get here. Enjoy it. This is a great opportunity for a young guy to show what they can do." Woeful Rockies absorb 2 records for futility with 19 whiffs and worst 70-game mark in modern era

ATLANTA — Kyle Farmer just shrugged when asked about being part of a Colorado team that just made MLB history with the worst 70-game record in the modern era. 'We don't care,' Farmer said after Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Atlanta Braves left the Rockies with a 13-57 record. The Rockies surpassed the 1932 Boston Red Sox, who were 14-56, for the worst 70-game mark since 1901.
