49ers news: Minicamp questions, injuries, no retirement talk and more for Cardinals fans Checking in on the NFC West with a few stories from the last week for Cardinals fans to know about the division rival 49ers.
We have made it through another week of the offseason, now 12 weeks from Week 1. It is time to check in with the rest of the NFC West and see what is happening with the Arizona Cardinals' division rivals — the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.
What has been going on with the 49ers?
Below are some stories from the last week about them that Cardinals fans should know.
Minicamp questions
The 49ers had a two-day mandatory minicamp this past week to wrap up their offseason program. These were the questions about the team entering the week.
15 players absent from minicamp
A bit of a clickbait header, yes. The 49ers had 100% attendance but 15 players were not on the field. It was for injury management.
WR Brandon Aiyuk injury update
The injury update wasn't much of an update. Head coach Kyler Shanahan didn't have much to say other than that he is doing some work and is making progress, but he still does not have a specific timetable for his full return.
No retirement talk yet
49ers left tackle Trent Williams will turn 37 years old next month. He is entering his 16th NFL season. But he isn't thinking about retirement yet.
Mac Jones talks about improving
Jones is the 49ers' new backup quarterback in 2025. He spoke about what he needs to get better at, and noted he needs to commit to throws better when he knows that is the right one to make.
