TOKYO -- Japan is aiming for a joint bid with other Asian countries to host the World Cup in 2042 or 2046, it was learned Friday, seeking to bring back the men's soccer tournament for the first time since 2002.
The 10-member East Asian Football Federation, which also includes China and South Korea, and the ASEAN Football Federation, which spans Southeast Asia and Australia, are considering having members host the tournament together.
