Amar Upadhyay On Reuniting With Smriti Irani After 25 Years: ‘Thought It Was A Prank'

"I never imagined that a new season would be planned, and now it is being shot," Amar Upadhyay said.
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, the Smriti Irani-starrer popular TV show, is all set to return to the small screen with a new season soon after 25 years. Backed by Ektaa Kapoor, it will mark the return of the iconic on-screen pair Tulsi and Mihir, played by Smriti and Amar Upadhyay.
As the excitement among the fans is at its all-time high, the makers have now dropped a new promo of the show wherein Amar shared his excitement for the second season and meeting an 'old friend".

In a video shared on Instagram, Amar said, 'I don't believe it. Yeh actually ho raha hai. Kabhi socha nahi Season 2 bhi plan hoga, shoot hona (This is really happening. I never imagined that a new season would be planned, and now it is being shot. This is unbelievable). Ek saath sabko laana. Itna bada iconic show hai, usko fir se laana bohot badi baat hoti hai. (To bring everyone together. It is such an iconic show, and to bring it back is a big deal)."
Further talking about how season 2 came to him, the actor added, 'Tanu ne phone kiya is baar (Tanu had called me). She said, 'Block your dates, we are doing Kyunki…Season 2. So mujhe pehle usne bataya to believe hi nahi hua. Maine kaha 'Are you sure?' I thought it was a prank or something. I asked her, 'Is Smriti doing Tulsi?'"
Lastly, sharing his excitement for meeting 'good friend" Smriti Irani after a long period, Amar said in the promo clip, 'Abhi zyada nahi bataunga. Bohot time baad milunga Smriti ko. We have always been good friends on set. Acche dost hai jab pehle mile the tab se. Will pick up from where we left. (Now, I'm not going to reveal anything much. I will see Smriti after a long time. We've always been good friends on set. We've been friends since we first met. Will pick off where we left off.)"

Apart from Smriti and Amar, the upcoming season will feature celebs like Hiten Tejwani, Shakti Anand, Gauri Pradhan, Kamalika Guha Thakurta, Ketaki Dave, Rohit Suchanti, Shagun Sharma, Aman Gandhi, Tanisha Mehta, Ankit Bhatia and Prachi Singh.
The show is all set to premiere on July 29, 2025, on Star Plus at 10:30 pm. It will also be streaming digitally on JioHotstar.
