Eagles could reunite with free agent linebacker if injuries persist
Kyzir White could become an option if Nakobe Dean and Jihaad Campbell aren't ready for the season With training camp on the horizon, the Eagles are facing uncertainty at linebacker as injuries threaten to thin their depth. Third-year linebacker Nakobe Dean remains sidelined after tearing his patellar tendon during the Eagles' wild-card win over Green Bay. While Dean is moving along in his rehab, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio told reporters in June that he 'won't be back for a while.' Meanwhile, rookie first-round pick Jihaad Campbell is recovering from offseason surgery to repair a torn labrum and isn't expected to return until at least August. "The biggest goal is to get back, get back healthy," Campbell said. "Making sure I'm strong and have a good mentality going into camp." In the absence of both players, All-Pro linebacker Zack Baun has been anchoring the middle of Fangio's defense. During OTAs, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. received first-team reps alongside Baun, signaling the team's interest in evaluating him as a potential starter. Trotter's performance could determine whether the Eagles stand pat or explore veteran options. One intriguing player remains unsigned: former Eagle Kyzir White. Named one of ESPN's top remaining free agents, White played a key role on the Eagles' 2022 NFC Championship team before signing a two-year deal with Arizona. He started all 17 games for the Cardinals last season and finished 15th in the league with 137 total tackles. Although a reunion in Philadelphia is plausible, it's unclear whether White, 29, would accept a rotational role when Dean and Campbell get healthy. Given his production, White may prefer to wait until training camps begin leaguewide and see if a starting job becomes available. Across his seven-year career, White has recorded 615 tackles, 23 pass breakups, 7.5 sacks, and six interceptions. If his market remains quiet, White would be a valuable piece for a team looking to repeat as Super Bowl champions.

Updated Arizona Cardinals salary cap space leading up to training camp
The Cardinals have the fourth-most cap space in the NFL in July. We are in the beginning of the final month of the NFL offseason in July and await the beginning of the Arizona Cardinals' training camp. They have made no moves since the offseason program concluded. They have plenty of cap space, should they want to make any additions before the start of camp. Updated Arizona Cardinals salary cap space According to Over the Cap at the time this was published, the Cardinals have a little less than $36.1 million in cap space. That ranks fourth in the NFL. The New England Patriots lead with $60.6 million, followed by the San Francisco 49ers with $45.7 million and the Detroit Lions with $40.2 million. The Cardinals don't have any glaring needs to fill, but perhaps we could see a July signing of a veteran cornerback or the re-signing of guard Will Hernandez or linebacker Kyzir White. It also leaves room for possible contract extensions, but we will see what they do. It is certainly a better situation to be in than the Buffalo Bills, currently listed as being about $100,000 over the cap. Titans Urged to Sign Top Defensive Free Agent
Titans Urged to Sign Top Defensive Free Agent originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tennessee Titans revamped their roster this offseason under new general manager Mike Borgonzi. After spending 16 years in various roles with the Kansas City Chiefs, Borgonzi knew changes were needed from last year's three-win team. Advertisement That started with releasing former Pro Bowl edge rusher Harold Landry III and grabbing big-time veteran free agents like offensive tackle Dan Moore Jr. and linebacker Cody Barton. Tennessee also added veteran wide receivers like Tyler Lockett and Van Jefferson to be a sure set of hands for rookie quarterback Cam Ward, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Free agent LB Kyzir White (7).Gregory Fisher-Imagn Images Borgonzi and head coach Brian Callahan are not done building this roster, however, as it takes time to overhaul a team that had a league-worst three wins in 2024. Titans reporter Easton Freeze noted that linebacker, in particular, is a position of concern. Advertisement ESPN's Aaron Schatz proposed a solution to this issue, as he wrote that the Titans should sign free agent linebacker Kyzir White. "The Titans don't really have a lot of inside linebackers on the roster that they can trust," Schatz wrote. "Tennessee signed Cody Barton away from Denver, but nobody else at the position played more than 10.5% of defensive snaps last season. A strong veteran to play up the middle would be a big help, and White is still out there." White is a seven-year NFL veteran who spent the last two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. He has also made stops with the Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles during his career. After losing Kenneth Murray this offseason from an already-weak linebacker corps, White could be the perfect fix. He has 615 career tackles, including 34 for a loss, as well as 7.5 sacks, six interceptions, 23 passes defended and two forced fumbles. Advertisement At this point in the offseason, he should not command as much money, so if the new brass feels that he fits in defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson's scheme, then this could be a homerun signing. Replacing LB Kyzir White 'pretty wide open' for Arizona Cardinals in offseason
Replacing LB Kyzir White 'pretty wide open' for Arizona Cardinals in offseason DC Nick Rallis says 'a lot of guys' are being given a chance to replace Kyzir White in the starting lineup. The offseason is about competition for roles in the NFL, but for the Arizona Cardinals, that is especially the case for one role in particular. They need to replace starting inside linebacker Kyzir White. They signed Akeem Davis-Gaither. Mack Wilson has played in a Mike linebacker role before. They drafted Cody Simon in the fourth round. Who will emerge as the starter? "I would say everything's pretty wide open," defensive coordinator Nick Rallis said this week after Tuesday's practice during OTAs. "We talk about roles, and there are really two phases of roles — there is competing and there are defined. And roles ultimately aren't defined until (we are) going into the first game of the season. "And roles can change throughout the season. So you've got to continue to perform at a high level. But right now we're in a competing phase, so there are a lot of guys getting an opportunity to go out there and show what their role can be, whether that's for what Kyzir's role was last year or any role on the defense." Davis-Gaither, who ended the season as a starter for the Cincinnati Bengals following the season-ending injury to Logan Wilson, is the likely favorite to win the job. We will see more clearly what things look like when training camp begins at the end of July and we can see what the practice rotations look like. Arizona Cardinals have nobody in PFF's top 32 linebackers
The offseason of lists and rankings continues. PFF continues its series of the top 32 players at each position. They ranked the top off-ball linebackers in the league. Guess what? The Arizona Cardinals were shut out of the list. They did not get a single linebacker in the top 32. Advertisement The truth is that they have a bunch of mostly nobodies. Kyzir White probably would have cracked the list if he were on anybody's roster, perhaps. But Mack Wilson became a full-time player last season after four years of not playing even 400 defensive snaps. They have Owen Pappoe, who has only been a special teams player through two NFL seasons. They added Akeem Davis-Gaither, the favorite to be the starting Mike linebacker, who only has 11 career starts in five seasons, seven of which came last season when he became the starter for the Cincinnati Bengals after Logan Wilson got hurt. They added Mykal Walker, who played 77 defensive snaps all last season while logging over 300 on special teams. Advertisement And then they added Cody Simon in the fourth round out of Ohio State. So of course the Cardinals don't have anyone ranked entering the season. Perhaps someone can perform well enough to earn a spot in these rankings next summer, but nothing about the linebacker room screams proven production. But that is partly the point. The Cardinals will get better linebacker play with an improved defensive line and edge, which they vastly upgraded this offseason. They believe that you can get good enough linebacker play and not pay a lot for it, at least until you find an elite player. They don't have that. Will the linebackers produce? Absolutely. White had 137 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, eight QB hits and three pass breakups. If the defensive line does its job, someone who plays the number of snaps White did last year will have similar production. Advertisement That's how it will go.
