Search underway for man after kayak overturns on Castaic Lake
First responders are searching for a man in Castaic Lake after strong winds reportedly capsized a kayak that sent two people into the water, authorities confirmed to KTLA.
Crews with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the area after receiving reports of the incident in the lake's lower lagoon area.
Lifeguards at the lake were able to quickly pull the woman, who was wearing a lifejacket, out of the water to safety, but her companion, who was riding alongside her kayak, remains missing.
In footage of the incident posted to the Citizen App, onlookers, as well as first responders, can be seen scanning the lake as rescue crews conducted their search.
Dive teams have reportedly been deployed, and the search remains ongoing, though nightfall was expected to significantly complicate rescue efforts.
