Lake Victoria back to her brilliant best in Irish 1,000 Guineas
LAKE VICTORIA showed her true colours to glide to an impressive triumph in the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh. The 10-11 favourite in the hands of Ryan Moore, Aidan O'Brien's filly was unbeaten at two when taking a trio of Group One events over distances ranging from six furlongs to a mile, including at the Breeders' Cup. She returned at a mile in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket, but connections were not far wrong when they said her preparation had been hurried and she was eventually sixth of 10 runners on the Rowley Mile. That run clearly brought her along perfectly for the Irish equivalent, and after racing happily on the rail, she accelerated away neatly when asked at the two-furlong pole and was a comfortable two-and-a-quarter-length winner from 50-1 shot California Dreamer. 1000 Guineas tips as Lake Victoria napped for Newmarket glory plus best bets for Hamilton
Our man has you covered for the big Group 1 race and the action closer to home in Lanarkshire LAKE VICTORIA (3:35) can land the odds for Aidan O'Brien in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket. The filly stayed unbeaten when brushing aside May Day Ready in the Breeders' Cup at Del Mar. The three-year-old looks nicely unexposed over a mile so she can deny some talented foes. JANEY MACKERS (1:50) can shock her rivals for David Menuisier in the Pretty Polly Stakes. The filly looked smart when absolutely bolting-up from Rock Camelot at Doncaster in October. The three-year-old hit the line running so she can claim a red-hot contest upped two furlongs. RUNNING LION (2:25) looks fierce for in-form Team Gosden in the Dahlia Stakes. The mare ended last season with a near-miss to Friendly Soul in a Longchamp Group 1. The grey has a cracking record at this venue so she can go one better dropped in class.
