Shemar Moore is taking a moment to thank all the 'baby girls' out there who fought to keep S.W.A.T. alive. Following word that the thrice-cancelled CBS police procedural would continue by way of 10-episode offshoot S.W.A.T. EXILES, Moore celebrated the news in a video shared by producers Sony Pictures Television. More from TVLine S.W.A.T. Executive producer Shawn Ryan, who developed CBS' 2017 S.W.A.T. reboot alongside Aaron Rahsaan Thomas, also toasted the news in a post that alluded to the series' nine lives. EXILES picks up 'after a high-profile mission goes sideways,' at which point Hondo 'is pulled out of forced retirement to lead a last-chance experimental SWAT unit made up of untested, unpredictable young recruits,' according to the official logline. 'Hondo must bridge a generational divide, navigate clashing personalities, and turn a squad of outsiders into a team capable of protecting the city and saving the program that made him who he is.' Production on the spinoff is set to begin this summer in Los Angeles, with Jason Ning (Lucifer, Mrs. Davis) tapped to serve as showrunner.
