‘S.W.A.T. Universe Was Dead for Less Than 48 Hours': Shemar Moore and EP Celebrate EXILES Spinoff News
Shemar Moore is taking a moment to thank all the 'baby girls' out there who fought to keep S.W.A.T. alive.
Following word that the thrice-cancelled CBS police procedural would continue by way of 10-episode offshoot S.W.A.T. EXILES, Moore celebrated the news in a video shared by producers Sony Pictures Television.

'To all my homies, fans and baby girls… to everybody out there around the world who have supported us for eight years, first of all, thank you. We couldn't have done this without you,' he said. 'I know the sad news is we got cancelled, but the good news is we don't stop fighting. And guess what happens when you don't stop fighting? We won! S.W.A.T. ain't going nowhere! Hondo ain't going nowhere!
'Hondo back in the building!' Moore exclaimed. 'S.W.A.T. back in the building! Say it loud, say it proud: S.W.A.T. and Hondo back in the building!'
Executive producer Shawn Ryan, who developed CBS' 2017 S.W.A.T. reboot alongside Aaron Rahsaan Thomas, also toasted the news in a post that alluded to the series' nine lives.
'S.W.A.T. universe was dead for less than 48 hours,' he wrote on X. 'So thrilled for Shemar and our crew. Can't wait to see what they do with this….'

S.W.A.T. EXILES picks up 'after a high-profile mission goes sideways,' at which point Hondo 'is pulled out of forced retirement to lead a last-chance experimental SWAT unit made up of untested, unpredictable young recruits,' according to the official logline. 'Hondo must bridge a generational divide, navigate clashing personalities, and turn a squad of outsiders into a team capable of protecting the city and saving the program that made him who he is.'
Production on the spinoff is set to begin this summer in Los Angeles, with Jason Ning (Lucifer, Mrs. Davis) tapped to serve as showrunner. A Stateside network or streaming service is not yet attached; TVLine will keep you posted as we learn more.

Before then, we are told there are around five to six candidates in the mix. Two of those are believed to be frontrunner Kate Phillips and BBC iPlayer and channels boss Dan McGolpin. Another pair are understood to be Nat Geo's Tom McDonald and a new name, David Brindley, the Chief Creative Officer of Destination X producer Twofour. Previously deemed a frontrunner, Bennett has always been positioned as a strong candidate but has just got his feet under the table at BBC Studios, initiating a major restructure in the past few weeks and bringing in several new lieutenants. He is the latest big name to exit the race, following the likes of Banijay UK boss Patrick Holland, Netflix's Anne Mensah and Apple TV+ executive Jay Hunt. In around a week to 10 days' time, Deadline understands the remaining candidates will be whittled down to two, at which point they will be grilled in front of an interview panel of senior BBC executives, likely including Director General Tim Davie. Unscripted supremo Phillips remains the one to beat, with BBC insiders and highly-regarded producers pulling for her to get the job. A Netflix-shaped spanner was thrown in the works earlier this week with a report in UK TV trade Broadcast that said she is being wooed by the streamer. Deadline revealed the exit of Netflix unscripted head Ben Kelly several weeks back. Netflix UK is on quite the tear and the Broadcast article dropped on the day the SVoD poached Channel 4's film and TV drama boss Ollie Madden. McGolpin is no less senior than Phillips but Phillips has the programme-making chops and has been acting up in Moore's place over the past few months. McDonald and Brindley are old friends from BBC commissioning, where they successfully ran the specialist factual and factual entertainment departments respectively for several years. The highly-rated McDonald has been touted as a possible Moore replacement since the contest began. He has handy experience working in the States as Disney-owned Nat Geo's EVP Global Factual & Unscripted and has worked with huge stars including David Attenborough and Idris Elba. He is known, however, to have built a life in America and is happy in his current role. Twofour's Brindley is thought to be one of the other contenders. He has been overseeing a successful period for the ITV Studios-owned indie that has included landing the £20M ($27M) contract to make Destination X for the BBC and NBC, new BBC reality franchise I Kissed a Boy/Girl and a historic third series for Apple TV+ doc The Reluctant Traveler. As with McDonald, Brindley is thought to be happy in his current employ. Notably, Phillips, McDonald and Brindley skew heavily unscripted, leaving the feeling that there could still be a big name from the drama world to emerge. Led by search firms Grace Blue and Ibison, the process is moving quickly, with the BBC appearing keen to have a name in place after Moore left the building last week. CNN will broadcast a Broadway performance of George Clooney in ‘Good Night, and Good Luck.' Don't miss it
When 'Good Night, and Good Luck' arrived on Broadway this spring, it initially provoked a surprising amount of cynicism. There were complaints that the adaptation by George Clooney and Grant Heslov was basically a reproduction of the 2005 film, which chronicled CBS newsman Edward R. Murrow's heroic crusade against Sen. Joseph McCarthy's communist witch hunts. The sky-high cost of tickets was another source of criticism. Was Broadway pricing itself beyond the reach of its core audience? Reports of 'Good Night, and Good Luck' shattering box office records served to remind those who couldn't afford a ticket that they were being left behind by a theater culture that was siding with the haves over the have-nots. In a Broadway season that featured Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal in a rudderless 'Othello' and Kieran Culkin in a 'Glengarry Glen Ross' revival that might have been stronger without him, 'Good Night, and Good Luck' was a convenient target for anti-Hollywood sentiment. When I arrived at the Winter Garden for a Saturday matinee in April, I can't say my expectations were especially high. I admired the film but hadn't seen it in nearly 20 years. The broodingly elegant production, sharply directed by David Cromer and starring a quietly committed Clooney in the role of Murrow (played in the film by David Strathairn), was not only one of the most stirring offerings of the Broadway season but also one of the most necessary. I left the theater wishing I could buy tickets for my friends and family. That won't be necessary — thankfully for my credit cards — because CNN will be broadcasting a live performance of 'Good Night, and Good Luck' from the Winter Garden on Saturday. It's apparently the first time a Broadway play will be shown live on television, and the timing could not be better. As media companies face a campaign of intimidation from the Trump administration, the figure of Murrow, standing tall in the face of demagogic adversity, is the courageous example we need right now. I don't know how different the experience will be watching at home, but 'Good Night, and Good Luck' made me reflect on what theatergoing might have been like in ancient Greece. Athenian citizens would gather at an open-air theater as a democratic privilege and responsibility. Playwrights addressed the polis not by dramatizing current events but by recasting tales from the mythological and historic past to sharpen critical thinking on contemporary concerns. Clooney and Heslov aren't writing dramatic poetry. Their more straightforward approach is closer to documentary drama, but the effect is not so disparate. We are affirmed in the knowledge that we are the body politic. CNN will broadcast the penultimate performance of 'Good Night, and Good Luck' on the eve of the Tony Awards. The production is up for five Tonys, including one for Clooney in the lead performance by an actor in a play category. But however the awards shake out, Clooney is already a winner. Like Murrow, he reminds us that conscience can still be a defining feature of the American character.

Family Guy's Seth MacFarlane turns to alcohol to deal with stage fright: 'I definitely get nervous'
Seth MacFarlane "definitely gets nervous" before a performance. The 51-year-old star is best known as the creator of the long-running animation series 'Family Guy' but has also released eight studio albums during his career and admitted that he has previously had to turn to alcohol to cope with stage fright. Speaking on 'CBS Sunday Mornings', when asked if he sees himself an introvert, he said: "Oh hell, yeah! I don't even wanna be here! No, I'm just kidding! "I think I had, like, four Scotches before I walked out on stage at the Oscars. I do get...I definitely get nervous." After graduating with a degree in animation from Rhode Island School of Design, Seth was all set to study a graudate programme in musical theatre but was then suddenly recruited to work on the carton series 'Johnny Bravo' 'Cow and Chicken' and 'Dexter's Laboratory' for Hana-Barbera so jumped at the chance, but admitted there was a his signature creation may never have come to fruition at all. He said: "My sister at the time was going to the Boston Conservatory of Music for musical theatre. She has a beautiful singing voice. I had gotten it into my head that I was going to go to grad school for musical theatre as well, so I applied and got in and was all set to go for their grad programme, but then I got this offer from Hanna-Barbera to come do an animated short for a series they were doing so I just had to take it and I moved out to California. "There was an incident there where I could have diverged into a completely different career and never even thought about something called 'Family Guy'." Seth also voices the roles of Peter, Brian and Stewie Griffin on 'Family Guy' and admitted that after more than 25 years on air, he has now begun to "analyse" the near-the-knuckle comedy in the programme in a way he hasn't done so before. He said: "When I started the show, my attitude was 'It doesn't matter, none of it matters. Let's do it...' and now that I'm older, I look back at the shows that we've done and think it's a little more complicated than that. "Comedy and jokes do have an impact. I have to figure out a way to maintain what the show is, and maintain this thing that people love but at the same time recognise that I am analysing it now in a different way than I did when I was younger."
