Spartans left off preseason US LBM Coaches Poll
Not a single coach has Michigan State football in their preseason top 25.
The official preseason US LBM Coaches Poll was released on Monday, with Michigan State failing to receive a single vote in the poll. Michigan State enters this upcoming season as a projected bottom half team in the Big Ten so it should come as no surprise that the Spartans didn't receive any votes in the preseason poll.
Michigan State is looking to snap a three-year bowl drought, with the Spartans being the only Big Ten team to fail to reach the postseason in the last three seasons. Head coach Jonathan Smith is entering his second year on the job, leading the Spartans to a 5-7 record during his first season in East Lansing, Mich.
The Spartans will open the 2025 season on August 29 against Western Michigan in a home matchup from Spartan Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and will be televised on FS1.
