Three people were injured in a shooting at the Shoreline Village in Long Beach on Sunday night, police say, including a teenage boy. The Long Beach Police Department says that officers responded to Shoreline and Shoreline Village drives regarding a shooting at approximately 10:50 p.m. Purported shooting near Los Angeles-area church sends person to hospital According to LBPD, three people were hospitalized, including a 14-year-old boy who transported himself. The other victims are an adult man who self-transported and a woman who was rushed to a hospital by ambulance; it is not known if they are connected to the boy in any way. The woman sustained a gunshot wound to her upper body while the man and boy suffered from injuries to their 'lower extremit[ies],' LBPD added. All of their injuries are considered to be non-life-threatening. LONG BEACH, Calif. - A woman was killed and another was injured after their car swerved into a Metro train in Long Beach on Friday night. Now, police are investigating whether the driver who died was speeding and/or impaired at the time of the crash. What we know The crash happened just before around 11:45 p.m. on Friday night, according to the Long Beach Police Department, near the intersection of 12th Street and Long Beach Boulevard. Officials said a woman was driving an Infinity south along Long Beach Boulevard "at a high rate of speed with no headlights on." That's when a man in a Honda turned south onto Long Beach Boulevard in front of the woman. SUGGESTED: Oxnard taco stand worker severely injured after Metrolink train, big rig collide The man, fearing he was about to be rear-ended, swerved into a guard rail. The woman driving the Infinity also swerved, but lost control and hit the Metro train, police said. First responders with the Long Beach Fire Department took the driver of the Infinity and her passenger to the hospital. The driver later died. What we don't know While the passenger in the Infinity was taken to the hospital, officials did not give any indication of her condition. The LBPD identified the woman who was killed only as a 21-year-old Compton resident. The cause of the crash wasn't immediately clear, but officials say they're looking into whether the Infinity driver was speeding or impaired. 15-year-old boy arrested for deadly shooting at Long Beach homeless encampment

A teenage boy was arrested in connection with a deadly shooting at a homeless encampment in Long Beach last year. Police arrested the 15-year-old on Thursday for the incident that happened on Nov. 24, 2024, according to a press release from the Long Beach Police Department. He allegedly shot and killed 51-year-old Frank Suggs and wounded another man just before 2 a.m. in the 2500 block of E. Ocean Boulevard. The second victim, who has not yet been named, suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the upper body, police said. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment while Suggs was declared dead at the scene by Long Beach Fire paramedics. After months of investigation, detectives identified the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest, police said. After his arrest on Thursday he was booked for murder and held without bail at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall. Investigators have not yet revealed a motive for the incident and plan to present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office in coming days.
